Not when it comes to determining the best interest of the people. Or at least, not when it comes to following it.

Show me an economy based on voluntary transactions and maybe we can compare?

then don't use them. They will go out of business. Then you can start your own bus company, and make a fortune.

Great idea. Lend me £1 million and I will start a us company, so there are even more bus companies. Fantastic.

Tell you what, I wont use them first so they go out of business, I will walk the 8 miles to the hospital.

Then I will start a bus company.

Next time around, we will create a world custom made to serve your needs.
It will come complete with politicians carrying magic wands that can wish into existence any service of your liking, custom built to address your specific desires.

When your only tool is "tax-and-spend", what else can you do?

it doesn't actually matter what the problem is, soaking the rich will always be the left's solution. Too many gophers in Minnesota? better soak the rich. Not enough sunlight in Alaskan winters? Soak the rich. The rich aren't getting soaked enough? Soak the rich! See how easy that is?

Lovely anecdotal comments. Tell me about hospitals being closed under NHS, incredibily long waiting systems, and patients locked out of emergency rooms because the waiting time is too long.

I would love to see your plan to force people to work or the government wouldn't feed them in place right now. Wouldn't you?

Because the problem was created with the goal of soaking the rich specifically in mind.

All these problems we face have been created (IMO) with the goal of subjugating the citizens of the United States to a Governmental authority. It is necessary to diminish the autonomy of those with wealth to do so; it also allows an increasingly larger segment of society to require the continued assistance of that same Government in the process.

It is a cycle moving inexorably into Dependence, and the politics of class warfare a central cog in the strategy. Due to their jealous nature, people are willing sheep in the trudge towards their own demise.

And it sickens me every day.

When your party is totally devoid of principle, you have to use the tools that you have. In this instance, Obama is counting on demogougery as a means of re-energizing his former supporters.
Soaking the rich will just hurt the economy further since the top 2% of wage reaners account for 1/3rd of all consumer spending. Take away their spending money and say Bye Bye to our already shrinking consumer market.

BTW, does anyone else see Warren Buffett's hypocrisy? There's nothing stopping him from giving more money to Uncle Sam than he's required to but, instead, he's giving his fortune to the Gates Foundation, a TAX EXEMPT charity.

If Warren Buffet taxes are increased how does that benefit someone like me? How does increasing taxes on the rich benefit anyone anyone? No one has any desire to "go get" the rich simply because their taxes will go to the Government.

Well that makes absolutely no sense at all...

Considering that the disparity between the wealthy and the middle-class has grown in the wealthy's favour over the last...what...40 years? I find it interesting to see so many middle-class people sticking up for the wealthy.

You think that raising their tax rates to the Clinton levels is "soaking" them?
Especially when you AND your Daddy's have been getting "soaked" all along?

Boy...that must be some interesting Tea y'all been-a-drinkin'...

Such offers those shackled to emotionalism a sense of social "justice" and "equality"....

Personal failure and mediocrity is less painful if the "fortunate" are brought more inline with their level. ...

    Punishment satisfies envy...

    add your own...there are many.

People in lower income quintiles stick up for the wealthy because taxing them makes no sense. It doesn't help them. It doesn't help you. If they make the money, good for them. How does bringing the wealthy down to your level benefit you?

I don't see what my Daddy has to do with anything. I personally don't care what the tax rates are currently for the rich or what how much they are making. I just want to know how it benefits someone like you.

I'd rather drink the Tea than the Kool aid. It's actually good for you and helps brain activity.

    I still need an answer.

Only idiots keep shooting themselves in the foot.

BTW T-Baggers and like-minded masochists...while you howl about tax increases...ya might wanna consider that tax increases are not the whole plan.

The problem I see is that allot of you can't read all that well, so you scan docs for key words...like TAX INCREASES...and off to the races you go.

You really do make yourselves out to be morons as you failed to scan for words like TAX LOOPHOLES and SPENDING CUTS.

But that's OK...as the rest of America...and indeed the rest of the world...looks on...we can only laugh as you expose you one true agenda...

    ME ME ME!

Stupidity...it's not just for Alaskans anymore...

    I just need one: Ignorance.

The only people who believe in Trickle Down Economics are liberals. They believe it trickle's down from Government to the public. In a way they are right. Welfare.

For me, it isn’t about soaking the rich, it is about soaking the privileged. I want to see them, the privileged, completely castrated. It just so happens that I don’t know of a single rich person who isn’t benefiting from privilege.

So if government is going to make people rich through privilege, then let us soak the rich. Only when privilege is abolished will I support leaving the rich with their wealth.

Not true. Liberals love to go after the wealthy and try to extract as much of their wealth as they can. The Robin Hood mentality they possess knows no moral bounds.

This is a perfect example of liberal thinking for MissJonelyn. Thanks for the input.

Only fools think that it doesn’t.

Ditto. Class warfare is all the liberals have left.

It's a start and an obvious answer to the pampering of the rich that began 30 years ago. It's also a start on recouping some of the bailout money that I've been paying for most of my adult years in a thousand different ways.

The rich have been sucking at the public trough for as long as I can remember. If U.S. investors in Mexico aren't getting paid, I bail out the Mexican government so they do get paid. If Lockheed loses on a contract to Boeing, I make sure Lockheed gets another contract even if we don't need the product. If a president doesn't have an aircraft carrier named after him, I make sure we build him an aircraft carrier and, in the process, bail out the Electric Boatyard or General Dynamics. If Wall Street spends cash like a drunken sorority sister with daddy's credit card, I'm there to make sure the brokers get to keep their homes in the Hamptons. If the bankers make stupid loans, I'm there with TARP. If BigPharma needs to change the patent laws at the expense of cancer patients, I'm there to make sure those laws get changed.

In other words, I provide all the wealth insurance the already well-heeled will ever need. Time for them to pony up for some of my largesse.

I've heard that the budget for military BANDS is larger than the budget for the National Park Service - including payroll.
