I don't hate Cain at all... I find him likable.. I just don't think he's got what it takes to lead.

I have followed Cain since his first TV appearance.. but I don't think his 999 plan is sound and I don't think he would be any good at all with foreign policy.

Dennis Prager is the smartest, wisest man on radio? Uh.... okay.

He thought that Congressmembers took the oath of office on the Bible. And that everyone was/should be required to do so, regardless of their actual religion. And that anyone who didn't should be prevented from taking office.

He was joined in this idiocy by the likes of Roy Moore and Virgil Goode. All of whom seem to think there should be a religious test for government service, even though the Constitution expressly forbids it.

    Smart. Wise. Sure.

He was never considered for any job or school through affirmative action and I challenge you to back up the lie you just told.

I was an early Perry supporter - but I am now in the process of "breaking towards Cain" - like most of the Perry supporters I know here in Fort Worth.

The term "affirmative action" was first used in the United States. It first appeared in Executive Order 10925, which was signed by President John F. Kennedy on March 6, 1961, and it was used to refer to measures to achieve non-discrimination.

In 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson issued Executive Order 11246 which required federal contractors to take "affirmative action" to hire without regard to race, religion and national origin.

Herman Cain was born in December 1945..

    Cain also supported TARP

Herman Cain in his previous run for US Senator from Georgia, openly endorsed affirmative action on his web site.

From WSB Debate Another area where Cain differed from his opponents was over the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act and Affirmative Action.

Cain is all about killing Medicare and Medicaide. Once 999 gets a focus, he's back to burgers.

You make the moronic accusation you back it up Landru. I wont hold my breath since you frequently lack the courage to do so.

So you can't back up your lie that he got into any college or got any job through affirmative action.

    Typical Margot.

And unlike you here is what he has actually said on the issue:

Some of my opponents in the race for the U.S. Senate seem to like to ask me if I am in favor of affirmative action. I'm sick and tired of people trying to divide us on race. So let me make my answer as plain as day, so that even a congressman can understand it. If by affirmative action you mean quotas - then no. But if you mean, do I favor giving all people equal opportunity? You bet. I don't understand how my opponents could not agree with the idea of removing all barriers for people to have equal opportunity.

People seriously need to stop hoping for another Reagan in either of the candidates.Even Reagan would be considered "unelectable" by todays Tea Party and Far-Right Conservatives standards due to his immigration reform.

No real mystery when juxtaposed with Carter. For those old enough to have been an adult during that period, the difference was night and day. From doom and gloom to excitement. From malaise to confidence. Our military was in rough shape post Vietnam and morale was low, alcoholism and drug use high. Reagan changed all of that.

List of "glorious nations" that have flat tax rate:

Bulgaria, Albania, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Guernsey, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Jersey, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Mongolia, Montenegro, Mauritius, Romania, Russia ,Serbia, Slovakia, Ukraine.

If Herman Cain wins, add "Teabaggistan" to the list.

Reagan wouldn't even get the GOP nomination if he ran today, look up what the man actually did. As governor of California he increased spending by almost 200%, raised taxes, signed some of the first emissions standards into law, AND granted amnesty to illegal aliens.

    Republicans live in fantasy land.

LOL I think you underestimate the man. The GOP was fully aware of his stats at the time warts and all. He still won. The alternative was Jimmy Carter. Many consider Obama as bad or worse than Jimmy Carter. It does not bode well for his re-election chances.

GOP has been taken over by crazy right wing radicals. They are a small and very loud minority; but this small group "shows up" in elections, specially in primaries. They are not afraid of kicking sane republicans out and replacing them with loons (Sharon Angle, Christine O'Donnell, etc.) who would lose to democrats. they scare the sht out of republicans.

Boy your spot on. Reagan was considered a great opponent for Carter by liberals. They thought Carter was going to intellectually crush him.

Well at least that's something. No reasoning for the comparison had been given in the OP or up to this point in the thread.

Reagan was a winner and a guy who was able to achieve broad support......I think it's important to see if Cain gets that far before we get too carried away with comparisons.
