I'm thinking of going down to see for myself. That was how I learned more about the Tea Party.
Maybe take a camera, ask people questions and videotape their answers.
My daughter is curious about it because she remembers studying the
Civil Rights movements of the 60's and this reminds her of that. Here in Vegas, there should be no danger of violence etc... We don't even have people in tents.

But then, it's down to about 65 degrees and my lovely bride (Latina) gets
cold the moment it drops below 80.
Still, I am not one to judge things solely by what I see in the media and our neighbor (who invited me) is a 50 year old business owner. Not exactly the young hippie type portrayed by the biased Right Wing Media.

(I love using that phrase! Kinda reverses the victim mentality of the ConservaRepubs!)

It could be embarrassing like taking the kids to the monkey exhibit at the zoo. If you catch my drift.

As long as you realise that by going you will lose your no party affiliation and be polarised by the Republicans here as just another liberal rat who would rather take hand outs from the public purse than support his country.

Like all things, you should go see for yourself and determine if it meets your level of "kid safe".

If you are going to ask questions and tape replies. Bring up Jews. Some pretty interesting results I find in the live chats in the OWS movement.

There is going to be a major snow storm across the north east coast. Which area of the country were you planning to visit? I wouldn't go to the one in New York and you should check the weather if you're going to another city's protest.

Hell, if I want to be labeled a Liberal on this board, all I have to do is disagree with a Conservative on one single issue, one time.
    It's what they do.

I give the Libs credit in that regard. If you disagree with them on say, Global Warming (which I do), they'll argue Global Warming. If you disagree with a Conservative on proper pumkin carving techniques for Halloweeen, they'll label you a Liberal (danm Socialist Pumpkins!!!!).

Yep..you're totally unaffiliated..Where is that hysterical laughter icon..??

By the way..no mention of your child's/children's age..I'd be inclined to take them if they were teens...and just be careful..watch from a distance before you move in close..

This conservative has always preferred to see for myself..

Sure, why not? I went to a local one October 15 to see for myself what was going on, and I was impressed. Everyone was friendly, polite, and it was well organized. There were people of all ages, including children. Since your daughter has shown an interest after studying the 60s, it would be educational for her as well.

I'd stay away from the one at Wall Street, though.

I think you should take paintball guns, and target any exposed asses etc., for your own entertainment.

You should be safe enough, as long as you aren't a 14 year old girl....

If you go, go with the attitude of having front row seats at Gallager show.

Go for yourself and see what you can learn. I would recommend leaving any little ones at home as others have said.

YOu know it's a funny thing, the hypocrisy of Conservatives. I remember when i said I was going to go check out the Tea Party for myself, because the media made them all look like a bunch of whackjobs.
THEN the Conservatives were saying don't believe something just because of what I see on tv or the internet. THEN the Conservatives were saying that being open-minded was a sign of intelligence.
    Now?
    Yeah well...

I recommended not taking your kids before checking it out yourself, but recommended going.

I also would not have made the same suggestion for Tea Party gatherings because they seem pretty darned kid friendly... this... not so much depending.

It's interesting, isn't it? The hypocrisy is on both sides, though. We are all human, and have it in varying degrees.

I've attended many tea party events and afterward saw the lies told by the media. That is why I attended the local Occupy movement. OWS was being demonized in the same way the tea parties were. What I saw at the local Occupy wasn't anything like what has been reported elsewhere, which I have repeatedly said this on the board, then someone invariably comes back with a sound byte about commies, filthy hippies, or whatever, ignoring the fact that there are many disparate groups. This knee-jerk reaction comes from closed minds who want to paint the whole movement with a broad brush, period, end of discussion. It gets old.

Numerous Leftninny groups were caught trying at Tea Party rallies with deliberately asinine signs, trying to tarnish tha TRUE FACE of the gress roots of America. Please cite the same at the Jackasses on Parade "OWS" crapholes.

Be sure to let us know when Tea Party demonstratos start capping in the streets/on police cars, destroying private property, and raping the underage at their gatherings, then your eqiovocation will have a shred of validity.

The problem is that it is anarchical. There is no leadership, there are no set goals, the only thing they all seem to agree on is that they hate rich people. There are anti-capitalists, anti-jewish, anti-government... wackos in the midst of a bunch of hippies and joiners... some of them are violent... and the language the OWS movement uses alludes to violence. "Revolution", "occupation", "Arab Spring"... all of the Vendetta references (a fictional terrorist)...

    I'll put it this way.
Jarred Loughner would definitely be at this event. Does that mean you shouldn't go check it out? No... should you bring your kids? Maybe not.

Can someone quote the conservative who I am being lumped in with that said "don't go"?

These people are nothing like I expected. After talking with them in depth, we learned what they are really about. What is it?

If you think it's worth sharing, pass it on.

Video is not up yet but it will be soon...

Keep your (*)(*)(*)(*)ing Generall Assemblies of inefficient democracy, and stop crying about corporations.

Corporations have never made a law that could lock you up in jail, only Congress can do that.

If you don't like corporations, quit buying their products. Don't be a hypcrite, buy the products and then expect Government to take the money you paid for the product and give it back to you through some tax & spend social welfare program!

Corporations are never going to get taxed to the level OWS loons would like. In fact we're probably going to lower taxes on corporations at some point to try and get them to repatriate the money they have stashed off shore.

25% top marginal income tax/25% corporate rate/25% Capital gains.

That is the future of Taxation in America, guaranteed.

Ah, but if corporations buy all the politicians who really makes the laws? and if trusts and monopolies form of vital goods and commodities how is anyone supposed to say no by switching to some other provider?

Also, they are going to keep that money off shore no matter what you do. Trickle down economics is BUNK, the rich don`t get and stay rich by throwing away cash to the point where they are seriously stimulating the economy by themselves.

Jails are there to enforce the rule of the capitalist class.

Difficult when most products are made by corporstions, and anyway, a consumer boycott can only do so much, we need to take over the corporations.

As I say, I dont want to tax the corporations, I want them taken into public ownership.
