What road? That the Afghan soldier said they were being fired on.

The Pakistan's have shown they can not be believed and are not friends of the US

I am not really sure what happened there, as is everyone else here. Eventually the truth will come out and I have a feeling Obama is just sending Pakistan a message, to wit: "You are on our payroll, start earning it". If Pakistan thinks it can continue to play both sides and keep the money they will pay a price.

Pakistan holds the cards as is evident by the fact that pakistan closed NATO's supply lines thru pakistan. How long do you expect NATO to stay in Afghanistan when it costs them more and takes longer to get supplies to afghanistan of which some arent allowed thru russia, which is the northern supply route. Pakistan has the upper hand in this.

I'm sure they will be fine, all that money does is prop the pro-us government up there and it all goes to the military anyways.. China is more than willing to replace us there... Pakistan won't blink an eye.

This was written in July of 2010 and alot has changed since then... obviously, so if the US had any chance in Pakistan, they probably blew it.

Pakistan talks a great deal. But what do the Han say? This is the rub.

The Han Chinese are astute about calculating self-interest. So tell us what is in China's interest. I'm looking for deep analysis.

This is from the article you cite:

"...Meanwhile, China is concerned over the increasing level of extremism inside Pakistan. Some experts say China is also concerned about Chinese Uighur separatists in the western province of Xinjiang finding a safe haven in Pakistan's tribal areas. According to Ziad Haider in a 2005 Asian Survey article, Uighur militants were enrolled in Pakistani madrassas during the 1980s and fought the Soviets alongside the Taliban and later against the U.S.-led coalition in Afghanistan. Some of these madrassas, Haider writes, "provided an important site for the recruitment of [Uighur] fighters" who later returned to Xinjiang.

China has also publicly expressed concern over the increased level of kidnappings and killings of Chinese citizens by Pakistani militants. China's ambassador in Islamabad urged Pakistan to "take effective measures to protect all the Chinese in Pakistan" after militants shot and killed three Chinese nationals in July 2007. Militants continue to target Chinese workers in Balochistan Province. However, Beijing is wary of getting heavily involved in counterterrorism efforts. "China is well aware of the threat it faces if it becomes too involved in counterterrorism efforts within Pakistan," says Garver, "and that means taking a more cautious and calculated approach--at least publicly--in strengthening Pakistan's secular institutions against the Islamist challenge. This may partly explain why China has been quite comfortable in encouraging the United States to engage more with Pakistan: to take the heat off of China."

Here's an article for you, pages 18-21:

The tragic thing about War is it has to be drawn out to Victory or Defeat .

Horray the War is lost in Afghanistan ,only denial remains Pakistan should go to War with Karzai's US puppet[Scientifically known as Comprador National Bourgeois]Regime.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try real hard, you might get what you need.

The Baluchi insurgency is against both Pakistan and Iran. Victory to the Baluchis.

You refer to the String of Pearls and the great contest of the first half of this century. India vs. China.

China must be able to protect its shipping across the South China Sea, Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and Persian Gulf. India cannot allow itself to be encircled. Conflict is inevitable.

China and India conflict goes way back, Tibet has a shadow government in India. They are not friendly to say the least. China would love to have a nuclear neighbor and friend on India's border, especially one that doesn't like India. The first people in the Paki compound that hid Osama were the ambassador to Pakistan from China, they have great interest in American equipment, even blown up helicopters. On a side note, remember when the US "accidently" bombed the Chinese Embassy in Serbia in the 90's? Seems that is where the beacon signal from the downed F-17 was coming from...
