In what could quite possibly be called the greatest political joke of all time, Christine O'Donnell apparently still considers herself relevant. Yes, after the flop of her book, she held court seeking her supporters "opinions" on whom it is she should endorse for president. Yes, you heard that right. It is as if her endorsement is of such importance. So what was so funny about it? Well, the premise for starters, Next is the attendance level. Finally, the fact that tea party groups are publicly distancing themselves form the one time tea party darling. So sit back and get ready to laugh at this one. http://caucuses.desmoinesregister.c...ll-meets-tea-party-groups-in-west-des-moines/ Tea party figure and former Delaware U.S. Senate candidate Christine ODonnell met with Iowa tea party activists in West Des Moines this evening. The purpose, she said in an interview before the meeting began, was to gauge the presidential candidate preferences of Iowa tea party groups before she formally endorses a candidate. I will be endorsing somebody before the Iowa caucus, and as my top three tend to rotate, I wanted to get the input of my supporters, she said. The meeting was open to any interested tea party supporters, but held in private at a Jordan Creek Town Center restaurant. ODonnells father and an aide, Matt Moran, required attendees to sign a non-disclosure and confidentiality agreement before entering the meeting space. Twelve people attended, including the two traveling with ODonnell. The room was set up to accommodate 40. The meeting stretched on for more than three hours, with ODonnell speaking for about an hour and then listening to attendees perspectives and candidate preferences. She also signed copies of her book Trouble Maker, and talked warmly and at length with several with the crowd. Afterward, ODonnell and a few of those present described the meeting as a free-wheeling conversation but not a call to any specific action. I would call it more of a motivational session than a strategy session, said Ken Crow, the former president of the Tea Party of America and an meeting organizer. ODonnell said the Iowans input gave her a lot to think about and complicated her decision on who to endorse. The overall topic of discussion was unity and relevance of the tea party and how were going to keep it going and why we need to keep it going, she said. But among the wider circle of Iowa tea partiers, the meeting was divisive. Several such groups signed a letter yesterday indicating they would not attend and chafing at the notion that ODonnells endorsement could speak for them. Asked about the letter this afternoon, ODonnell indicated she was unfamiliar with it and stressed that her motives were pure. Divisions between tea-party factions have been exaggerated for media effect, she said. That said, one of her primary goals is to ensure that tea-party groups supporting various candidates in the primary season ultimately coalesce around the GOP nominee. Its my hope that if we all dont endorse the same candidate, on the other side we can very quickly unite, she said. I of all people know the consequences of a divided Republican Party. ODonnell gained national attention last year when she startled the GOP establishment by winning a primary battle in a U.S. Senate race. She was a divisive figure, however, and made several missteps, including a now-infamous commercial in which she claimed she was not a witch. She lost the general election to Democrat Chris Coons by 17 points. In calling for unified support for the eventual nominee, ODonnell emphasized the principles all Republicans share in common. At the end of the day, I hope we all recognize what were fighting for and that while we may not be on the same team, may not endorse the same candidate, or use the same talking points, we all are on the side of liberty and we all are passionately concerned about whats happening in our country. I hope and I literally pray that at the end of the day theyll put that above everything else. When asked about specific candidates, ODonnell said her favorites changed frequently. When pressed about a comment referenced in the letter from the activists who boycotted her meeting, in which she said her personal leanings were 70 percent in favor of Mitt Romney, she said the former Massachusetts governor was not getting a fair shake. I dont think that people are really looking at him the way they should, she said.Within the Republican Party, I dont think that hes getting enough credit. Among those present at the meeting were former Crow, conservative activist Ryan Rhodes, who is now coordinating tea party support for candidate Michele Bachmann, and a man who identified himself as Joel and said he contributed to ODonnells Senate campaign last year.
The Tea Party attendance drops a lot when there is not a fleet of Koch-brother financed luxurious buses with snacks and goodies to ferry everyone to the gatherings and guide them in their chants!
^^^ Quote from someone that has never been to a TEA Party. Wait until spring... we will show you a proper protest. One where legal permits are gained, real masses show up, and where we clean up after ourselves and do not get arrested.
TFM cares about what Christine O'Donnell thinks or he would have never created this thread... how ironic and hilarious!
if she is not of any relevance why make a thread about her? oh oh wait a tick, i get it you are trying to help her promote herself so she can make the big bucks like you liberals helped with Sarah Palin right? yep another millionaire in the making just like Bristol and Sarah Palin thanks to the libs constantly bringing them back from the dead. jeez, i need to make libs hate me more so they can put me in the news constantly and keep me there so i can make my millions too lol. hey libs, hate me hate me hate me PLLLEEEAAAASSEEEEE hahaha.
You do raise an excellent point. Perhaps reading the OP again would expose the merriment and amusement O'Donnell generated. It is all listed.
Is that when the corporations agree to fund the t-party's "grassroot" efforts? Only when it's warm and cozy out?
no maybe its because members of the Tea Party have a life and families to care for, they arent a bunch of degenerate hoodlums without any true responsibilities.
