Actually the rate of revenue growth fell after the tax rate increases from 9 down to 7. The surplus would have occurred quicker had not Clinton insisted on raising taxes.

The Gingrich/Kasich tax rates cuts did get revenue growth into double digits and both deserve credit for forcing Clinton, who opposed the measures, to sign them.

But then you've been told all that many times before.

Clinton fought the tax rate cuts and fought for higher spending. He deserves no credit.

If we had higher taxes on the rich, we'd have less of a deficit.

    Jesus, man, simple math.

Of course Newt and the New '94 Republicans should get the credit for the
rosy clinton years.Yet we have heard how at every opportunity the subject is
broached,Slick Willy grabs the credit.Right there speaks volumns.
BTW ... would you have the name of One,just One Democrat Senator or
Congressman who fought Bush on Spending.Towed the line and didn't take
    a single earmark.I have a Republican ... John Boehner.
That is Proof Democrats are pure HYPOCRITES.

    This stuff pisses me off.

People tune in for 2 hours for a debate, hear a bunch of lies, then turn off the TV.

They never learn about these blatant lies that are being spewed by these politicians.

I am definitely in favor of attack ads because stuff like this gets people elected and it just isn't right.

But these same folks blasting Gingrich are mostly ardent Obumbles supporters. Obumbles who was never vetted.

And what a jackass he turned out to be, eh ?

I have never claimed there was a surplus, as there was not. There was a projected surplus. Here you go. Consistent as always.

    http://www.politicalforum.com/1265150-post45.html

I have never blamed Bush for anything except what Bush did. I am not sure where your accusation comes form, but seeing how your first was inaccurate, I am certain this one is too.

That has nothing to do with me. I have never blamed Bush for anything other than what he was responsible for.

Did you write the article ?

I said "Dems". Are you all of them ?

Whoa .... you must have a REALLY BIG HOUSE !!

So, as you started this thread, maybe you can address the point. Dems can't have it both ways.

Further, if you give it some thought, Clinton gets a lot of credit by Dems for his fiscal performance. As the architect of the Republican Revolution of '94, Contract With America, being Speaker, etc., Gingrich can ride those coattails. And no one really gives a crap about the exactness of Clinton's fiscal numbers. They were good. Gingrich owns a piece of them.

And his statement was still incorrect.

But yet you responded for "Dems".

And like it or not, one of Gingrich's strong points are those things fiscal achieved during the Clinton Administration.

He certainly has vulnerabilities. This ain't it is all.

I am leaning towards voting for him in the Primary as well. I do want to see him debate Obama. Often :)

Actually, I responded in a singular fashion, namely for myself, as your post was quoting me.

Why? It appears he is every bit as dishonest in debates as every other politician.

"me" ? Your OP is mostly an article you did not write. ;)

Where is your last "Obama is dishonest" thread ?

After watching last nights debate, Republicans voters would be foolish to put their trust in Romney. His inability to fire up a crowd and provide any strikes on his other Presidential components is quite revealing. While there were many memorable moments for Gingrich, I can't remember one good line or quality answer that Romney delivered to the audience. Nothing. It was like he never showed up.

On the other hand, Ginrich fended off numerous attacks with ease. He made critical attacks on his past seem like right-wing, political garbage, and turned every oppurtunity to answer a question into a motivating speech. It really doesn't matter how genuine this man was portrayed or how strong his convictions really are, he gets the job done when he's on the ropes.

I agree. Putting Gingrich's politics aside, much of which I agree with, the man is exceedingly bright, and nimble on the fly. He's 67, but has the mental quickness of someone much younger, combined with the experience of his long career, and the expertise of a professer of American history. And 20+ books too.

He's a bit of a bomb-thrower. Fortunately for him, at a time when America wants big change.

He scares the crap out of the libs.

    .....

    1) The absence of humility on his part for his past actions denotes a lack of personal growth in his morality bcause he never sincerely said "I acted like a fool in my life. I asked God's forgiveness and am working toward a new marriage and a new religiousity that I can feel comfortable with". Newt merely fended off the charges. That is all, proving he has not changed.

    2) It DOES matter how genuine a man running for the presidency is portrayed and any comment saying it doesn't matter is clearly evading the issue of Gingrich's lack of sense of personal morality which is all important in a presidential candidate who is representing a "FAMILY VALUES" Party. Look what happened to John Edwards...

As for Gingrich balancing any budget..that is laughable; he cannot balance his Tiffany's expensive jewelry debt, then deserts his presidential campaign while he brings his newest young wife on an expensive mediterranean cruise to remind her of why she married him.

No, Gingrich has not changed and has not grown a new morality; he's just older, fatter, and finds it easier to lie to people.
