This is one of the worst things about war. We take average, normal troops and put them in a Hell-hole of a war where they're staring death in the face 24/7 and watching death and destruction all around them and some of them commit heinous actions completely foreign to their natures. The fact that they've done it is probably responsible for much of the mental problems they suffer after they return to their homes and normalcy.

IMPO, the people who were so gung-ho for starting these wars in the first place are equally to blame for what takes place in that video.

The thing that surprises me most about this video, isn't that the act took place, it's that the Marines were dumb enough to videotape it!

This is the 21st century. Video cameras are built into our cellular phones, and images can be almost instantly uploaded to the Internet and available for viewing worldwide.

They should have remembered the part of the Miranda warning that says "Anything you say CAN and WILL be used against you...".

but when you consider where front line ground troops are generally recruited from this should be expected...go to any country and it's the same they come from the underemployed, less educated rougher class of our societies, young immature kids...these aren't mature college educated professionals...
