Girl caught in crossfire after MLK parade in downtown Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Police are investigating the shooting of a young girl after the MLK marade in downtown Little Rock.

Police say a group of girls got into a fight at the MLK parade in downtown Little Rock. The girls moved their argument to an alley at Wolfe and Battery near 18th Street.

The girls tell police then a silver car and a pickup truck pulled into one end of the alley. The girls say someone in one of the vehicles started firing at people at the other end of the alley and the girls say they were caught in the crossfire because they were in the middle.

The girls say the shooting didn't have to do with them. Lt. Terry Hastings with LRPD says this story varies from what police were told earlier.

The victim is an 18-year-old girl and police say she is stable.

Stay with Today's THV and todaysthv.com for more on this developing story.

Somewhere after the 1960's, our dreams separated from reality. It's time to accept reality and fix it.

Riiiight....so the people who already choose to break laws by shooting people...will....still have their guns?

More Gun laws as an answer to someone who already breaks laws? Going to need a better solution Im afraid.

Perhaps a reason for that is there were no MLK parades in that era, yet crime still existed.

Yes, there was no MLK in that era. Now with MLK, we still have crime.. we still have inter-racial violence, we still have one race treated better by the law than another... Sometimes it seems like MLK vision has been hijacked by people who don't really care for MLK..

I guess it could have been worse. I heard BET conferences multiple people get shot.... Whatever, I guess.. I got the day off yesterday...

If all guns were banned tomorrow ,it wouldn't stop this type of crime. When are you simple minded liberals going to realize this ? . Criminals DON'T follows the laws, that why they are criminals.

Crime has always existed. At the end of the day, if you have a "peace sit in" and then somebody gets shot.... You have to wonder if the "peace sit in" was worth it in the first place.

With so much emphasize put on equality, peace, etc.. during martin luther king jr day.... But yet on the other hand, someone actually getting shot in the MLK parade itself..

Makes one wonder if we we put TOO much emphasize in the day and not what really is important? Lowering the crime rate? high black unemployment.... black on black violence? etc...

Perhaps it time to move forward and not focus on "civil rights" of the 60's and 70's and have black people focus on the here and now. Its no longer about sitting in the back of the bus....

When people are shot during a "peace sit in", people snicker.. When young people get shot during MLK.. people snicker and wonder -- why are you even putting so much emphasize celebrating MLK when there are more pressing issues in the black community?????

Oh well, whatever.. I got a day off yesterday... MLK is just another vacation day for me... Is this what MLK wanted this day to be about? Probably not.. but who cares... better than a day where some people think its about shooting others..

Hell, there were shootings before MLK day and there will be after. All in all, with all the fanfare about peace, love, etc. that comes with MLK day.. is MLK day even relevant anymore??? Doesn't seem to be slowing down the violence in these communities which, by the way, celebrates it the most.. puts it in high regard, etc.. whatever.. Hear that.. Its me snickering....

yes because armed criminals are so careful with their weapons that it will be all of ...a week?..before most of them are arrested again and their guns confiscated.

its not the current weapons in the hands of criminals thats the problem, its the constant influx of new ones.

but for the record im against banning guns outright and think everyone should be allowed a pistol or shotgun in their home for self defense.

You say that you are against out right banning of firearms, but you want to limit ownership. Why limit it to just one shotgun or just one pistol. A criminal with just one gun ,can be just as deadly as a criminal with ten guns.

Why put a limit on the amount of guns a law biding citizen can own?

sorry, I dont want a limit....I didnt intent to sound like I did.

I do want the limit the type of weaponry, but if you want to collect shotguns go right ahead.
