If you're 24hrs shy of this post, please disregard.

Anyways, wikipedia is blacked out now in protest over "legislation that could fatally damage the free and open Internet."

They make it easy to contact your local representative so that you can protest these bills if you feel inclined to do so!

    It's no big deal.

Just use Google's cached pages of wiki.

Good-old Google takes a snapshot of each page it examines and caches that version as a back-up.
This means you’ll be able to see a version of a Wikipedia page when you type the subject into the Google search box.

Start a search and then hover over the grey box with double right arrows next to the search results.
The page will appear on the right-hand side of the screen. Click on “Cached” and Google will take you to the page,
except there will be a grey box at the top of the screen.

Glad to see certain sites doing this.

Keep government out of the internet!!!

You want to know why the internet is so awesome??? It's because government has had no/minimal involvement in it.

I can guarantee if government gets involved with the internet, give it 5 years and it will suck.

The statist who never question, irrespective of their ideological leanings... individuals who stand to make greater profits... my best guesses.

True. Watch, within 10 years the internet will be an "entitlement". I can guarantee that.

(At least at the rate we are going)

Man, I have no idea. I haven't talked to anyone on either side of the aisle who supports it.

Google, while still running, has blacked out their logo and posted a message.

Here is a list of other sites. It doesn't cover everything though. Liveleaks for example... they're also protesting... with umpteen anti-sopa/pipa post. They even have a link where you can add a banner to your home page. So by now, the protest is pretty wide spread, as a result many more will become aware. I'd imagine mainstream t.v. media will give it some coverage as well.

..and then blame it on Republicans, and the mainstream media will be right there to further the lie.

I will never understand why radio stations used to broadcast complete albums over the air and would announce when they would do that. They had permission to do that. We used to sit our tape recorders by the stereo speakers and record.

The content owners are out of control with their demands. I fully support protecting their IP but why do you think you mist get all tv channels isntead of being able to buy ala carte? it's not the cable companies who make that mandate, it's the content owners.

there is a common sense answer but this isn't it

Never let the facts get in the way of an anti-Obama rant!
    source
I will leave it up to you to look up to what party Smith belongs.

BTW, President Obama has criticized the bill. I will also let you find the source of my claim. I am pretty sure this bill is dead in its present form. I guess Smith will have to wait until a Republican is president.

That's a pretty broad statement. I'll assume that you're a liberal. Liberals tend to think in terms of 'groupthink'. Your gramma doesn't use the internet, ergo; old people don't use the internet. Your statement or assessment is just plain ignorant.
