Yes - it would be a gold mine for TransCanada and the oil refineries from selling the refined oil overseas. It would provide a few temporary, low-paying jobs for Americans. Is that a legitimate reason to cut another swath across the country - ruining farm land, homes, forests, whatever's in its way? Especially when none of it is intended for domestic use? What's the benefit to us again? I thought all the hoopla about oil and drilling and pipelines was to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and this pipeline has nothing whatsoever to do with that.

    Just remember this in November.

Make all those 23 Democrat Senators trying to hold their seats responsible as Obama.

We want to create jobs in America not India and China...
How is reducing wasteful health care spending and expanding health care going to create jobs?
The last stimulus scheme craeted 4 million full time jobs..
How is more pollution and oil spills going to create jobs?
How is falling asset prices and more foreclosure going to create jobs?
How is allowing corporations and banks to defraud people going to create jobs?
How banning regulations that save billions od follars and hudnrds of lives going to create jbos? Are you saying that pollution is a job craetor/
Yep because all that money we gave millionaires really trickled down
Every economist and intelligent person realizes that unemployment benefits create 2 tiems teh benifits for every dollar spent

I agree int he past 30 years middle class producivity has been cinrease but our wages havn't. The rich have seen their income shoot up 300% while middle class income stagnated, also in the past 30% the rich have seen their tax rates fall by 100% while poor and middle class people have seen their taxes increase.
So I agree we should stop class warfare and to do that we'd have to dramatically increase taxes on the rich.

    As to the Op;

Great job saying no to more rape. Christ, if the oil were going to help the US, we wouldn't need to pipe it down to the gulf (for export). It's all about the fat cat profit. Surprise, surprise. I heard Tanman Boner has personal investments in seeing the pipeline succeed. Another shocker, I know.

Correct. We are going to let a LOT of people get sick and die... before we do what we should have been doing LONG AGO.

    Sad and disgusting.

Until we (humans) figure out that money is NOT more important than people, we will likely always find ourselves in unnecessary peril. :(

IF not a deadbeat, tell us all, what exactly do you call someone who doesn't even attempt to find a job, who does absolutely nothing to contribute to our society, and then sits expecting the rest of us who do and have contributed to our society.

To pony up our incomes and the results of the sweat of our brow, to pay to feed, cloth, house, and oh yeah, provide medical and dental care for them also.

Yeah that's what I thought, you call such an individual a DEADBEAT. That is not called as you put it a "Fox-type" talking point, that is called reality. But oh that's right, I forgot, libs who swallow every line Obama and his DNC cronies feed them hook line and sinker, don't live in reality with the rest of us....

    Of Course he said no.

He wans the votes of the crazy Aztecs who want to sacrifice countless Americans on the altar of environmentalism in the faint hopes of changing the weather.

They don't want economic growth, only through economic stagnation can the Earth stay "clean". So they must starve America of natural resources.

...and that's what he needs to do for the next 4 years. "Just say no" to the right wing kooks all the way through, just like Nancy suggested (and just like the kooks did since 2008).

Why would Obama say he could if he couldn't? Did he lie, make a false statement or a mis statement?

Yes so cut the corporate tax rate here.

How is increasing it going to create jobs?

The last one created no net new jobs and will cost jobs in the long run.

20,000 jobs one pipeline alone, no notable increase in pollution and pipelines don't have a record of damaging oil spills.

By allowing the market to stablize and get into a growth period again rather than delaying the inevitable like Obama. How is keeping housing in limbo creating jobs?

I reject the premise of your argument. How is creating an unconstitutional department without any congressional accountablilty and the power to create laws without any checks an balances and no reason to believe it will do what is claiimed going to create jobs?

Prove that all regulations save billions of dollar save lives.

Why are you giving your money to millionaires?

Every economist and intelligent perons relaizes that unemployment does not create any net gain to the economy and only keeps people on unemployment longer than they otherwise would remain on it.

But hey let's just use your economic theory and everyone quit work and collect unemployment and just think how great the economy will be.

    Mine have.

Not voting for Ron Paul is a vote for Collectivism. You are part of the problem of the destruction of Individualism if you don't vote for Ron Paul.

...yes, and on the morning news they mentions (off-hand) that gas prices will be between 4 and 5 dollars by summer. Oh yes, thank you Obama and all of Washington, you so have our interests at heart.

Obama is nothing more than a Cheap Carny barker.Basically telling
any audience exactly what they wanna hear.I dunno ... maybe that
    makes for a thrifty fundraiser.
Obama uses Saul Alinsky tactics.Say things that ingratiate oneself to
an opponent or outright pick a fight and make the foe feel as if
    they deserve a guilt complex.
But Obama has been found out.

Well I'm not seeing a source from you. Maybe you posted it earlier and I missed it, but using Think Progress as a source is worse than using no source at all. I would rather go by stuff that RtWngaFraud hears on the streetcorner than Think Progress.

Now first, I made no claims that were not my own opinion, so I'm not sure what exactly you think I need to cite sources on. I never said either "it's the best thing for the world since sliced bread" or "Obama's trying to destroy the country by refusing to allow it."

I don't think politically it was a smart move. He's basically sacrificing jobs for Americans for political donations from the 1%. I'm sure that will turn up in an ad this fall.

As for your point about the oil not going being for the US, first, would it even matter if it was all promised to us? It sounds like you're opposed to this regardless.

Secondly, the oil is going to be refined on the gulf coast, so where it goes after that is up to whoever the Canadians sell it to. It is their shale oil after all. That means we can buy the oil too. It was never going to be a gift. In the meantime we would make money off the pipeline transporting and the refining. It was a win/win proposition for us. Either way, the Canadians are selling it. We can either be involved and get a cut or sit on our thumbs and wonder why fuel supplies are so tight and we have so many unemployed. I guess I already know which you prefer.

Either way, the US won't be receiving the benefit of this pipeline, but America's people will be taking all the risk. We build a bridge for the fat cats to strip more wealth and fill their pockets. You want to decrease our dependency on foreign oil and keep the oil right HERE in the US? That's one argument, which is debatable, but to simply sell it off to the world market? WTF??? That's STUPID, and the fat cats are the only ones who benefit, and they'll be long gone when the water supply is poisoned. (They'll probably be around to sell you water though).
Fuel supplies will be just a tight, and will make ZERO difference (unless it stays in the US and for US use exclusively...which it won't). Hell, they'll probably think of a reason to charge us MORE for gas, probably citing expenses the "job providers" had to incur after building and selling off its contents.

PinkSlip Romney in 2012! Sell off America (whatever is left that China hasn't already bought)!
