Interesting considering he only got 20% of the Evangelical vote. They won't admit but there may just be something with that argument. lol
The very simple dynamic that the Public at large was waiting, no longer with bated Breath but hearty anticipation for a Republican to stand up and bravely announce what needed to be said. That the Elite Media exist to carry Obama's water and destroy any vestige of Conservatism,by hook or crook. The American people crave fairness and have had enough.Enough lollipop praise of a mystery man from Chicago who wasn't Community Organizing to build Boys & Girls Clubs. But to teach and train Saul Alinsky radicalness. The way he's governed. And the people have a right to know and question where this mystery man came from and what his true character. The time has come. Obama has been found out.
I think, in part, it was due to the way Newt doesn't back down to the liberal media. This is the liberal media who focus greatly on any Republican's multiple marriages or affairs, but who actually cover for Democrats in the same situation. Republicans get strongly vetted in the media; Democrats don't. There was so much about Obama the liberal media refused to investigate or look into----when they would have no such hesitancy had he been a Republican. Voters get that. So yes----Newt gets kudos for the way he stands up to the liberal media/press and doesn't let them get the best of him. In surveys, over 1/2 of South Carolina voters believe that Newt has a better chance of beating Obama. Mainly because they believe Romney's Massachusett's healthcare will be a problem and he wouldn't be able to go after Obama on that issue because of it. A very large percentage gave Newt higher marks for being able to fix the economy. Newt scored higher with the Tea Partiers who are strong in SC and with evangelicals. But most of all, Newt scored highest on being able to fix the economy. And don't forget the Palin factor. She's strong with the Tea party. Just a couple days before the vote, she stated publically that if she were voting there, she would vote for Newt---if nothing else, but to send a message and keep this thing going. All in all---I believe his counter punches to the liberal media is only a small part of why he won there so strongly. But it WAS a factor.
I get a kick out of the exit polls. On the abortion issue Romney finished LAST with 6 % vote. S.C has over 10 % unemployment and the nations underemployment is nearly 20 % ULTRA CONSERVATIVES ( Evangelical ) voted 2-1 Newt over Romney. Ron Paul is the reason Romney lost. Add his vote and the Santorum votes to Romney and Newt loses. How many independent votes did Newt Get ? How many Santorum voters pick Romney has their #2 choice..same with Paul.? Ron Paul is taking voters away from the Romney side. They would never vote for a scum bag, corrupt loser. They may dislike Romney but would vote for him over the 2 GOD vote people.
Does anything that happens in South Carolina politics mean anything to the rest of the country? I mean, if there was any state (other than Texas) that I wish we could vote out of the US ala "American Idol" it would be South Carolina. Has there been a larger collection of crazy politicians and political stories in this country the last 30 years? You can blame the voters of SC themselves for those problems. I think the only reason Newt won (he's the logical choice based on his scoundrel personality) was because Herman "the pimp" Cain wasn't still in the race. Of course, Bachmans also has enough crazy in her to merit SC votes. They would have been candidates 1 and 1A had they been around.
Considering the winner of SC has won the nomination since 1980 then yes it does mean something to the rest of the country.
Frankly, I'm not interested in religious affiliation or the fact that a candidate had extra-marital affairs. Lots of very successful politicians have strayed from their wives. But I do like the fact that Gingrich is a conservative with a proven political track record and real leadership qualities. In sum, I may not like the man very much but I do like his abilities and political positions.
This man sums it up nicely. http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/01/psst_hear_the_roar_and_pay_attention.html
Oh ... whatever you say. The media LOVED Bush more than Obama. This is why we have a serious problem in this Country. Kinda like Howard Stern's man on the Street interviews with Obama voters.
Sure it gave him a boost........not so much due to Newt's hatred of the liberal media, Obama, the Democrat Party, corruption and tyranny of all labels........ ........all Freedom lovers and Non-Democrats share that hatred......... .....but its Newt's ability to espouse that hatred......to take Liberalism.....whether it be Juan Williams, John King, Obama, or Hitlary.... and kick them right in the nuts using facts, truth, reality......... Its similar to the people that wanted Trump to run.......because they knew Trump was going to turn Barack HusSame Obama into a punching bag......rather than (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) foot around the edges as so many Republicans do. . . . .
Newt's surge? Weak, pathetic field to choose from primarily. Next week Santorum's turd will float to the top of the bowl. Spin the wheel.
Newt decided to run on a very simple message, "We must crush the left and drive them into the sea!". The base is angry, very very angry.
Well to be fair, slavery is only in remission. You guys are trying to bring it back with the slow creep of socialism.
The only "crazy" thing here is your hatred and refusal to take seirously any opinion or policy that doesn't come straight off the radical leftwing platform. Your vision for American society isn't popular with most of mainstream America, maybe you should consider why that is?
Well he's going to get mine. Why? Because I'm looking at this logically. Newt is the only one that is a deep DC insider, that has a track record of getting both sides to play nice. Now that may not be the perfect candidate in all elections, but right now, that's what America needs.
