The description of this as a vaccine was added to the definition of a vaccine the beginning of this year. It is nothing like a vaccine but is an unapproved experimental treatment.

If we get a wave of Delta variant infections running through unvaccinated individuals in states pulling the federal benefits, we will predictably see a drop in tourism and other discretionary spending as well as in spending on "in person" services like dining out, going to the mall, bars, and clubs.
Not sure I agree with this.
I think the support payments make it more difficult for employers like restaurants to attract people to take work that exposes people to catching covid without paying a wage premium many employers can't afford.
When it's obvious unvaccinated people are the ones in hospital, I suspect Republicans will be on the defensive.

You're saying the mRNA vaccines are a treatment? They clearly are not a treatment. I don't know who would call them a treatment because it doesn't make sense.

Pfizer is working on a treatment...

    https://www.pfizer.com/news/press-r...-initiates-phase-1-study-novel-oral-antiviral

    I don't know more details.

and they do not have to take the mRNA version, they can take the old technology version too, there is a choice

I personally got the mRNA version

Considering long-hauler effects even on younger people, I'd say they're far better off getting one of the approved vaccines and watching for and treating side effects than in remaining unvaccinated--well, unless they live in the bush and wear a P100 respirator whenever they visit "civilization" (if you could call what we have in our society these days as "civilized).

This guy (whose posts I fortunately do not read) is probably one of those who think that the mRNA vaccines are gene therapy and alter the human genoma. LOL. They are anything but.

You would let your kid to risk a heart attack and injury with unknown long term effects vs something that is least likely to affect them?

The known risk associated with the approved vaccines is far less than the known risks associated with catching covid, even for teenagers.

Sure. You are free to let your kids be guinea pigs in an experiment with an unapproved experimental treatment.

Err... I think you mean unproven. All available COVID vaccines have been officially approved.

But even then you would still be wrong (so wrong). Modern vaccination is a proven 'technology' and has been for about 200 years. Longer than flight has in fact. I presume you would let your teenagers fly? Or is that the unproven as well?

For that matter a form of vaccination was apparently was practiced by the Ancient Chinese.

This only states half of the facts. The spike protein is a 'toxin' in that it can damage certain cells often found in arteries and lungs. However, because the shot is more localized, the protein never does damage to your lungs and rarely does enough damage to your heart and arteries to be detectable in the tests.

    MBFC does NOT "rate" themselves.

Their "rating" comes from their CREDIBILITY provided by OTHER well respected credible sources.

On the internet ONLY credibility matters!

Read the literature. Emergency Use Authorization is only used for unapproved drugs.

This alleged experimental treatment has never been used on humans before.

    The long-hauler effect?

What thoughts have you about the breakthrough effect like Maher and the MLB players? Any meaning to that? Any lesson to be learned?

    Yes. From the NYTimes:

"An analysis of health insurance records of almost two million coronavirus patients found new issues in nearly a quarter — including those whose Covid infection was mild or asymptomatic.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans have sought medical care for post-Covid health problems that they had not been diagnosed with before becoming infected with the coronavirus, according to the largest study to date of long-term symptoms in Covid-19 patients.

The study, tracking the health insurance records of nearly two million people in the United States who contracted the coronavirus last year, found that one month or more after their infection, almost one-quarter — 23 percent — of them sought medical treatment for new conditions.

Those affected were all ages, including children. Their most common new health problems were pain, including in nerves and muscles; breathing difficulties; high cholesterol; malaise and fatigue; and high blood pressure. Other issues included intestinal symptoms; migraines; skin problems; heart abnormalities; sleep disorders; and mental health conditions like anxiety and depression."

Err again, tested on volunteers prior to release and then used on and by millions of others since. Yet I'm still waiting for a vaccine induced zombie apocalypse to commence - and not losing any sleep over it either.

Standard procedure is animal trials that can take 1 to 2 years. Not done for this experimental treatment. Next are 4 phases of human trials. Phase 1 and 2 Fauci correctly said can take 1 to 2 years and he said the soonest would probably be 1 1/2 years. Phase 3 is expanded trials and phase 4 is proof and acceptance by the FDA. Normally it takes 5 to 20 years to get FDA approval. Pharma did phase 1 and 2 of human trial in 6 months and you are phase 3 of human trials.

All previous trials using this novel treatment never made FDA approval. Most did not get past animal trials.

The long term effects are unknown yet even now vaccine injuries are piling up enough that the CDC held an emergency meeting on it.

    Some things that have arisen.

Between the 1st and 2nd mRNA shots you are more susceptible to contracting COVID-19.

Pregnant women, according to Pharmas own literature, should not take the vaccine but that is not communicated to the public by government.

Young men are succumbing to myocarditis at higher levels than normal. Some virologists are warning that it can cause cardiovascular damage.

The spike protein if in the bloodstream settles in certain organs. For women one of the organs are the ovaries. Women have complained about changes in menses after getting the shots.

Immunity suppressed individuals have a higher risk of contracting COVID-19 after vaccination.

Sure, much of this is unproven like smoking was but as the numbers add up, so do the correlations.

Besides that, actual long term effects are unknown.

That is why I follow the suggestions of caution by those working with COVID-19 patients and not government or Pharma which are as follows.

No one under the age of 50 should get the vaccine unless they have a morbidity, which of course many do as they get older. The risk/reward drops the younger you are.

No pregnant women should get the shot.

If you have contracted COVID-19 you already have immunity which some studying this say is high and should avoid the shot and possible risks.

People in my age group, 60s, have a 98.5% chance of surviving COVID-19. A significant portion of the population have existing antibodies which has been calculated to be 40% to 60% based on testing blood supplies pre-Covid. I contracted a corona virus in 2009, H1N1 and have not even had a cold or flu since where I usually had colds or the flu yearly. I did not get flu shots for 45 years between the military and until 2019 when I reached 65.

The real danger is for those 80+ with a survival rate of around 91%.

LOL, I'm not surprised in the least that you are unaware of 'breakthrough' cases. Likely A. Fauci prefers to not talk about them.

Breakthrough cases is the term they use describe the fairly common event of a fully vaccinated person becoming infected with Covid. Bill Maher and certain members of a MLB team might be the most famous/notorious.

Those cases demonstrate but one aspect of the fantastic failures of the shots.

Yes that's right. It's all another conspiracy/cover up. Just like QAnon, the moon landings and JFK. Keep up the good work and make may your bunker always be well stocked.

I'm not surprised in the least you avoided discussing the long-term impact of covid.
You have Fauci on the brain.
Your comment didn't say breakthrough cases.

Not even the polio vaccine is 100%. Of course, some vaccinated people get covid. This from the CDC:

"COVID-19 vaccines are effective. However, a small percentage of people who are fully vaccinated will still get COVID-19 if they are exposed to the virus that causes it. These are called “vaccine breakthrough cases.” This means that while people who have been vaccinated are much less likely to get sick, it may still happen. Experts continue to study how common these cases are.

Large-scale clinical studies found that COVID-19 vaccination prevented most people from getting COVID-19. Research also provides growing evidence that mRNA COVID-19 vaccines offer similar protection in real world conditions. While these vaccines are effective, no vaccine prevents illness 100 percent of the time. For any vaccines, there are breakthrough cases. With effectiveness of 90 percent or higher, a small percentage of people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will still get sick and some may be hospitalized or die from COVID-19. It’s also possible that some fully vaccinated people might have infections, but not have symptoms (asymptomatic infections)."

The only "fantastic failure" is your anti-vaxxer propaganda.

If you are a doctor should be ashamed of yourself.

You position does not withstand your training nor the rigors of critical thinking preferred in medicine. If you are a doctor of something else, you should still be shamed but it's less egregious.

You need to strap on your big boy shoes, take the vaccine and recommend it to others. That is the socially responsible thing to do.

Be a valued member of sociaty, not a problem to sociaty.

    Thanks
