“Weird” is the newest low of this sad political campaign

So, we can kind of forgive the Democrats for the hilariously awful optics of having to replace Biden without nary a debate or a process.

It meant however that Kamala Harris rose to prominence unearned and the major question is: Can she actually earn it? Has she improved as a candidate in 4 years?

Well, if you know that the Democrats strong game is social media and “being hip” then you’ve seen the latest campaign tactic endorsed by AOC, and major ad PACS: They’re just weird.

No, seriously, that’s their message to get undecideds to vote for them. It’s akin to back in 2016 when Trump and Rubio debated over “small hands”.

And yes, Trump is a major contributor to these “politics” but we have officially hit a new low.
Yes, HRC famously called Trump supporters “deplorable” but at least it wasn’t juvenile and at least it wasn’t her major pitch. It was her lashing out if anything.

This “weird” social media campaign IS intended to be a major pitch and all it does is show me what I already knew: Kamala Harris is not ready to be president.

Democrats please take this opportunity seriously and nominate someone else who can actually win a general election. But not just win, actually govern over the country.

Because even if Kamala wins, it’s obvious to all of us(even for the Left) that she can’t do this job.

 

Conservative politicians are weird, though. They have weird hang-ups about sex, gender, and religion. They're strangely obsessed with accumulating wealth and protecting the wealthy. They're oddly obsessed with guns and unconcerned about the wellbeing of anyone other than themselves. They want to do disturbingly inhumane stuff to immigrants. They lie about the weirdest ****. I don't know what to tell you. The shoe fits.

 

I think its a pretty stupid attack. "Weird" can be a good quality. If the Republicans were smart, they'd play off of this with something like "Yes. It is kind of weird and unusual in Washington to [insert good policy objective here]"

Leaning into it is actually a good counter to the attack, but not like that. They need to go with stuff that is a little kooky, like silly, apolitical family traditions or something. That's the kind of thing people find endearing. The GOP is completely incapable of doing anything that might make them feel silly or unserious, though, so that's never going to happen. Trying to tie it into policy in some way just comes off as disingenuous.

It is called doing everything in your power to avoid talking about your policies and their impact on America. It has a high school mean girls vibe. Nothing screams cool more than every single MSM outlet and Democrat politician coming out with "Trump is weird" at the same time. That certainly is not Orwellian. It is a slight improvement over "Trump is Hitler". I guess Democrats realize they can't win talking about what their policies have done to America so they are stuck with juvenile insults.

I have given far more substantive criticism of Trump than any progressive on this forum. I am not sure why they don't want to talk about Trump's policy flaws but they don't. I remember Trump wanting to legalize millions of illegal immigrants and being stopped by Congress. Not a single progressive remembers that. It infuriated me at the time and I remember it because I actually care about the issues.

I find it interesting that when the Democrats hit on a word or phrase, they all say the same thing. It’s obvious that they are all getting messages from “central casting” on what to say and how to say it. This has happened repeatedly. This week the catch word is “weird.”

It says a lot about the state of the Democrat Party today. Like the communist parties in totalitarian countries, everyone has to present a common front and be on the same page. It seems that diversity of thought and words cannot be tolerated. It’s not a healthy place to be, especially since the Democrats are determined to achieve a total monopoly on political power and discourse. It’s unfortunate that totalitarian principles have gained so much influence within one of our two political parties.

 

I dare say that a lot of the older Democrats who are watching these perverse ideas take hold are like the late Democrat Senate leader, Harry Reid. His comment about how Barack Obama had “cleaned up pretty well and was well spoken for a Black man” was an insight into his true feeling.

Today racial equality is a laudable goal, but sexual perversion is not. There are differences between the sexes, and the Democrats deny that only at their peril. The people need to see the inherent problems with the Democrats’ charade and vote accordingly.

There are levels of sexual perversity which are indicative of mental illness. As it was with the nonbinary energy expert, who was stealing women’s clothing at the airports, there are some who have no business getting appointments to sensitive government positions.

The attack itself is disingenuous and weak. "Weird"? Could say disturbing, off, crooked, evil, etc. But weird? Somebody tell weird Al he's no longer cool I guess.

 

Part of the point is to be ambiguous, though. Disturbing, crooked, evil (and deplorable) are not ambiguous. But "weird" gives people some wiggle room, for the exact reason your example alludes to: it can just mean eccentric, or different in a fun way, etc.
