MAGA supporters cling to the idea that they represent 'normal' people and the GOP likes to present itself as the party of 'ordinary Americans'. This line of attack undermines this by pointing out the truth - the party in increasingly a collection of nutters and/or people with crazy, nasty ideas. As you have pointed out, the weird sex obsessions and fanatical anti-trans stuff are just the more obvious examples.

This is designed to highlight just how far the GOP has drifted from ordinary, 'normal' people. It might backfire, but pitched right as part of a broader campaign it might just work.

I've met numerous individuals, both left and right(a very inaccurate set of labels) who are able to judge other individuals on a case-by-case basis. When you ever get out of your Ivory Tower you should try it.

For example, in life and even in today's internet environment, I have always known there are good individuals and bad individuals, no matter the color of their skin or their religion or ethnicity. We are all capable of good or bad actions, though some individuals do seem possessed by evil. We could go on for hours about this.

 

For very simple minds afflicted with cognitive dissonance, yes. For those of us with curious minds and willing to face unpleasant facts and truths, not at all.

 

"Curious minds" in this case means people who don't want to accept reality.

Kamala was a great candidate four years ago. There are at least twenty candidates that I could name off the top of my head in the Democratic Party who would be equally great candidates and great Presidents. Same is true today as it was four years ago. But only ONE can run.

Compare this to Republicans who believe they only have ONE option. I don't know what's going to become of the Republican Party once this guy can't run anymore... but I have a feeling it's going to take them a loooong time to recover... And running away from Trump is not going to be pretty.

I used to tune into his radio show every once in a while for laughs. His method was to posit a flamingly obvious lie and surround it with a legion of verifiable facts used far out of context andd designed to mislead.

Of course, as his diatribe progressed, he got steadily louder and louder until the point he was screaming into the microphone. I was hoping I was listening when he bought the big one!

It was the same act every time I heard him.

But face it, it makes them feel good about themselves. You see more and more arguments about their feelings. Very seldom is anything heard about policy. When we do hear about policy it is about "kackles" shift to the right. The media has painted Kackles as a giggling likeable phenomena and that is how they plan to get her elected. It is all about what is cool in our narcissistic world. It might work. American character I believe is at an all time low.
