http://www.invent-the-future.org/2013/07/20-reasons-to-support-cuba/ Wondering what everyone else has to say about the achievements of the cuban people.
1. Best indoctrination in the world, not so much education. 2. A miracle? Who knows when you are dealing with closed authoritarian societies its hard to tell whether numbers are fact or fiction. 3. Got proof they are actually training people to do critical thinking? 4. Um hmm yeah totalitarian societies find it very easy to get rid of their undesirables. In Cuba's case they send them to the US. See the Mariel boat lift. 5. Unfortunately women have no more rights than anyone else in that totalitarian hell hole. 6. See 4 above. Add to that the fact that true free thinkers and independent minded folk are jailed or shipped out into the bargain. It's pretty easy to create a community spirit when you know that if you won't at least try to fake it you're going to jail or worse. It's the sort of comity one gets in a society in which paranoia is a survival tool. 7. More simply put freedom especially economic freedom is verboten. 8. Utter bull (*)(*)(*)(*). 9.Yes indeed Cuba continues to promote socialist thuggery and jackassery world wide. 10. The primary problem in Africa is socialism, disease, Islamic radicalism, and tribalism. Cuba does nothing to solve any of these issues and much to worsen them. 11. The policies of the Khmer rouge minus that funky thing about killing people for wearing glasses. 12. And in the US it is nearly 100% and no one held a gun on anyone to get it done. In Cuba it appears to be considered rich to have the basic amenities that people in Western countries think of as the bare minimum for survival. 13. Yeah they throw those people in mental institutions or jail. 14.Pretty easy when you have plenty of jail birds to experiment on and your biotech such as it is is largely unhindered by bioethics. 15. The last sentence of course is purely BS. 16. Then he like other leftist politicians discovered that if you let people screw their brains out they won't notice that every other personal freedom is missing. 17. Got absolutely nothing to do with anything other than the fact that totalitarian societies have a far easier time of compelling idiots to withdraw from the most severely threatened areas than do free societies.Had people evacuated New Orleans as they were told to do five days before Katrina hit the death toll would have been nil. 18. Yes and Golden rice has done the same for China and much of the rest of Asia, thank you Monsanto. 19. The entire cuban sports complex is less expensive than Jerry Jones' football stadium in Texas. Everybody likes sports. 20. Not bad if your favorite lyric starts Castro is great. 13
So, in other words, you have a completely failed analysis based on absolutely no evidence apart from your own ignorance? Got it.
Is it just me, or has there been a large uptick in the number of ridiculous threads over the past month?
Brace yourself. (These are only from where I'm pulling this from, I could cite thousands of examples of the achievements of cuba.) http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...most-ambitious-literacy-campaign-2124433.html http://www.caribbeannewsnow.com/top...enefit-from-Cuban-literacy-program-12522.html http://links.org.au/node/3422 http://www.theguardian.com/news/gallery/2007/jul/17/internationalnews http://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...-in-haiti-put-the-world-to-shame-2169415.html http://www.who.int/countries/cub/en/ http://www.themilitant.com/2010/7415/741560.html https://www.greenleft.org.au/node/17145 http://www.havanatimes.org/?p=19854 http://cuba-solidarity.org.uk/resources/WomeninCuba.pdf http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/06/cuba-made-great-strides-in-gender-equality_n_2819031.html http://www.fantompowa.net/Flame/assata_interview.htm http://cuba-solidarity.org.uk/resources/DemocracyinCuba.pdf http://www.ratb.org.uk/130-news/ratb-writes/253-cubademocracy-community https://www.greenleft.org.au/node/43404 http://www.cuba-solidarity.org.uk/faq-answer.asp?faqid=5 http://fresnoalliance.com/wordpress/?p=3477 http://www.havanatimes.org/?p=73510 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/406780.stm http://monthlyreview.org/2011/03/01/the-latin-american-school-of-medicine-today/ http://www.colorlines.com/articles/fidel-castro-owns-persecuting-gays-cuba http://www.ipsnews.net/2012/05/community-drills-part-of-cubas-top-notch-disaster-response-system/ http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8059287.stm http://cuba-solidarity.org.uk/resources/Cubaninternationalism.pdf http://www.havanatimes.org/?p=90054 http://www.wbur.org/2013/01/16/a-berklee-professor-dives-into-cubas-vast-music-scene - - - Updated - - - Maybe you should do your own research.
By "do your own research" I am assuming you're taking the "ridiculous" line since you believe Cuba fits the stereotypical view put forth by willfully ignorant people. I urge you to research cuba using sources outside of the united states.
Oh lord, another one... Yes, because the type of car matters to a nation that has suffered under embargo, the collapse of the USSR, rebuilding after a revolution, educating the masses.. Cubans have priorities, fancy cars aren't one of them, making sure kids have milk is though. "Cuba distributes one liter of milk per day to every child between the ages of 0 and 7, as well as to the sick and to malnourished elderly persons."
I like Cuba. I hope they will not loose their achievments, after capitalism moves in. It took about 20 years for Russia to adapt, those years were horrible.
So being able to feed themselves is now supposed to be a great achievement? You'd be amazed what folks can do when they're hungry, including sail a 1953 Chevy to Florida to escape ass wipe dictators.
Lets ask the friends and remaining family of the murdered New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster and see what they have to say about it.
It's a great achievement when comparing them to haiti, which allowed capitalists to interfere with them and other latin american countries. Given the conditions of cuba and what they have faced, I admire the cuban people and the revolution, it's obvious they have made great achievements: http://www.thegully.com/essays/cuba/000305cubastats59.html - - - Updated - - - Do you want to talk about the various people harbored by (insert country here.)
1960's Marxist propaganda. Your source is from murdering revolutionary Marxist commie website who advocates returning to the past, sixty years in the past. http://www.invent-the-future.org/ http://www.invent-the-future.org/about/
Your deflection skills are formidable... easier than answering the specific question posed, wasn't it?
Do you need me to repost the sources used by the website? I disagree with the websites author on some issues, particularly the DPRK, but that's not relevant, factual information is. - - - Updated - - - Ask the family, if they want to hate an entire country because of one person being harbored, so be it.
I guess my question would be, if Cuba is so great, why are people willing to risk death to cross the ocean in horribly built rafts, just to escape it? I mean if it's so great and wonderful, and as quoted "8. Cuba is a functioning socialist democracy", why are there so many political prisoners in the country? these are just some basic questions, and they have horrific answers... so, I guess thats what I think of Cuba... I guess I'd risk death floating over the ocean too...
People do leave cuba in small numbers these days, but some regret it.. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/mar/05/cuba-healthcare-refugee-american-dream Regardless, what about the people risking death to escape capitalist countries in huge numbers? I've already mentioned cuba is not perfect and has faced historic challenges. It is a functioning democracy, that is a fact. I urge you to look at the sources I've posted and go through them on your own. "The commission estimated 103 political prisoners in Cuba a year ago. " 103. http://4strugglemag.org/political-prisoner-profiles/ What about the united states? ^ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communist_Control_Act_of_1954 Mccarthy?
at first I thought it was someone being a conspiracy nut... now I'm actually starting to really see it... all low post accounts postings insanely biased articles and topics, lacking a personal opinion, just a real propaganda piece... geezus... I hope this doesn't mean I need to make a tin foil hat, I used the last of it to cover the lasagna tonight... the video below really has nothing to do with my post, I'm multi-tasking youtube auditions and political forums... what a mix...
Insanely biased? Everything is biased. Evaluate the facts on your own, I have come to my conclusion, make your own, I just don't fall for the anecdotal bull(*)(*)(*)(*).
Lets take the first claim. I don't know if the Castro brothers are liars or not but lefties do have a track record of being liars, look at Obama. But for over sixty years Cuba didn't have to enforce their immigration laws because there has been no immigration or illegal aliens coming to Cuba, so no dumbing down of Cuba. There was a time when America had one of the highest literacy rates in the world, that was back when America's immigration policies were what was best for America and not what was best for the immigrant or one political party. When the Cubans get tired of cleaning their own toilets, watch out, there are 20 million Mexicans who are looking at Cuba today. Your source fails to mention if there are free Castro phones in Cuba ?
