To add to my post. The newer version you mention 'a prostitute can be had for a loaf of bread' comes from the Septuagint translation. If you want to know about the Septuagint. It was a group (about 70 -Sept-uagint) of Hebrews scribes who translated the Hebrew Tanakh (Old Testament as we call it) into Greek. The reason was that after the exile of Judah to Babylon, many Jews never returned home but later spread throughout the Middle East during the Greek Empire, and in doing so took to learning the prevailing language - Greek. You can find more on the internet by Googling 'the Septuagint'. You may find the term 'koine Greek'. This simply means 'common' (everyday) Greek as opposed to 'classical' Greek.
