Well, a lot of that is pure speculation based on whether John McCain was there or Brennan was there type of thing. But no actual proof, none what I have seen, just innuendo, hearsay, etc with a string of conspiracy theories. But joining the EU would still make Ukraine Neutral militarily, which is the point that most people are talking about. The EU is an economic consortium, and it would have helped the average Ukrainian, especially Ukranian small businesses, tremendously. If you look at the UK, small businesses are struggling because of the beaurcarcy if you are outside and the UK trade is hurting, a lot, which is affecting the GDP in the UK primarily such as in the link below.

Well 2014 seems to be the pivotal year, but President Obama didn't give any speech to the American people explaining that the 1980's foreign policy was back, and these are the reasons why. The administration just started acting like it was, and never bothered to inform the American people why we really needed a cold war with a country that Obama also declared was only a regional power, a gas station and little else.

Yet here we are.

I think the American people understand Cold War I well enough, it an important part of US foreign policy; the key part; but no one has decided why a much weaker Russia is now back as the new Hitler (not counting all of the GOP domestic Hitlers).

 

I don't think that Republicans want Russia to win, they just don't give a damn about the Ukrainians.

 

I think if the US was defending the European theater for the last 100 years, we wouldn't have a 31 trillion dollar deficit and crumbling infrastructure.

 

Which is why Russia wants Republicans to win, like they did in 2016.

I've posted quite a lot of content on Ukraine, and actually started this thread. You simply don't like my opinions on the subject, which of course is your right, but I've noticed this tactic of editing replies before. You want to excise context, and usually the answer that you claimed you were looking for. It's against the rules to do that anyway, so I guess we know what you really think of a rules based order.

This is the same logic that worked for T**** that the rest of us can't figure out, why would the weak support the strong or the poor give their Social Security money to the rich.

 

They are not anti ukraine, they are anti wasteful spending on military industrial issues.

If you dont spend money on minority programs it is because your against them as people I guess.

Its not about the money. Money pours in when our allies donate their old gear to Ukraine, and buys new gear from us.

Since WW2, we have been the defenders, mostly because we were the only industrialized nation that was not bombed out of existence. But that is the beauty of the Marshall Plan, what MacArthur did in the Philippines and in Japan, etc. And now, Japan has a very capable military even though it is not military by nature or law.

 

......and we are the only nation to bomb civilians using an atomic bomb...

 

Yes, but that was war, and we justified it by saving tens of thousands of lives if we did invade which would have allowed WW2 to last another year or two, plus destroy an entire nation and its population. They were literally going to send children to their deaths.

 

Was that the wrong thing to do?
