As I sit here, again in isolation, because of the fast spread of another virus I wonder how many others are doing the same thing. I have belonged to a 12 step program for over 39 years and 80% of my group came down with Covid. So for all those in 12 step programs and find themselves in a similar situation or who are homebound and do not have an opportunity to attend a Zoom meeting I was wondering if there is any interest in a forum on addition. Maybe we can start this one off with the first couple steps. 1. We were powerless over our addiction and our lives had become unmanageable. 2. Came to believe a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

My addiction led me down the road of total utter dispair. Not only did I almost destroy my own life but I took down many who loved me or trusted me. I was so obsessed and consumed by my addiction that every time I fed it I craved more and more. When confronted by others I became defensive and combative and had a thousand answers why it was their fault or someone elses fault. The insanity I had was that I could always look down the road and say to myself " if I ever get as bad as that person I will quit". Well somehow I always did get as bad as that person. My first steps to recovery was to finally identify the problem. Until I could admit to myself I had a problem and needed help there would be no solution to my problem. It wasn't until I talked to others, who had walked in my shoes, and shared with me their paths to recovery that I was able to start a new life. So for those who may be suffering some addiction "your not alone". Perhaps some other 12 steppers would like to share a little.
