When you’re a rich and famous celebrity and point a gun at someone, pull the trigger and cause the death of an innocent person you get off Scott free. So now they’re still going after the woman who handed Baldwin a gun he didn’t check, a woman who was fairly new to the business.

You know those guys who drive those 18 wheel big rigs? They are responsible for everything on the truck, everything, no matter who told them it was ok to drive it. If something falls out of the truck and smashes into a car, he can’t use the excuse someone else loaded it because he’s supposed to check everything before he hits the road.

In the end it was Baldwin who didn’t check the gun, it was Baldwin who pointed the gun, and it was Baldwin who pulled the trigger.

It's funny. Baldwins responsible because he was a producer on the film and would then be in charge of a lot more then simply being an actor.

That said, actors are actors and not gun experts so that's why you have an armorer on set. From what I've read, the armor in charge had only had this position once before and was so bad at their job on that set that Nicholas Cage walked off due to lack of safety. The assistant director has a lot of accusations from previous films for similar things. Alecs stunt-double was previously handed an 'empty' gun that then shot 2 blanks out of when he pulled the trigger.

Your metaphor regarding the truck drivers is apt, but the reflective individual on the set would be the Armor, not the actor. The Actor is the guy the armorer directs in the usage of the thing, in the same manner the truck driver directs the off-loaders on the unloading of said vehicle.

Baldwin is guilty of low level manslaughter, but more likely reckless endangerment. The armorer ,on the other hand, should get the harshest manslaughter penalty possible.

Guess you missed reporting that the trigger may not have even been pulled.

You know the gun was a revolver right? Unless something was to physically strike the back of the hammer there is no way the gun goes off without the trigger being pulled.
    Totally physically impossible

Yeah, that’s what Baldwin said, if it worked for him then that excuse will work for those four thugs in Georgia, right?

It’s a really sad situation all the way around but in the workplace rules change quite substantially in some cases. The individual in charge of set safety has been charged and the armorer deserves the harshest sentence.

The DA obviously realized that he couldn't prove the specific elements required to get a conviction...
So, the charges were dropped...End of story...

I don’t see how anyone could wield a gun under any circumstances and not be legally responsible for wielding it responsibly. If that’s the case then wow, the law should be changed.

The decision to drop the charges came after a new team of prosecutors took over the case and reviewed new evidence that showed that the gun Mr. Baldwin was practicing with had been modified before it was delivered to the set, according to an official close to the investigation who was granted anonymity to discuss the case. That undercut the prosecution’s original argument that the gun could not have fired unless Mr. Baldwin had pulled the trigger, the official said.

The hammer has to hit the bullet with enough force to get the primer ignited, for that to happen the hammer has to be pulled back. Did the hammer pull itself back?

I still think Alec Baldwin is held civilly liable for the incident, just not criminally. i also think the movie project should be totally scrubbed, and that should be the end of it.

Baldwin was holding the gun and he pulled the trigger. Basic firearm safety dictates that he should have known if the gun was loaded, or not.

When you are on a set and have a professional armorer as well as staff members that their entire job is to maintain safety the “every weapon is loaded” goes out the window. They are supposed to be props and they have never failed in decades — expecting actors that are inexperienced with firearms to preform safety checks on props is absurd.

Hopefully the individuals that allowed a real gun on set are punished accordingly.

When YOU are holding the gun, YOU are responsible for knowing if it's loaded, or not. That responsibility falls completely on the person holding the gun. Ignorance is no excuse.

The court disagrees but thanks for your opinion

So if a child actor has this happen to them, it’s the child’s fault?

I don't think it was an intentional act by Baldwin but in that same regard he f***** up.

There's way to make sure you don't ever accidentally shoot somebody to and that's following the rules of firearm safety. He did not and I think he's guilty of that.

I've never accidentally fired a farmer and it has to do with discipline when I'm handling them and I don't want to fire them I unload them. If they appear to be unloaded when I pick them up to handle them I make sure they're unloaded.

And if you do this no one will ever be accidentally shot. Even when you have to break a rule and point the gun at a camera for a movie shot.

I'm being said I think there are other people responsible for neglecting safety rules the person that handed him a gun with a round chambered yeah he should have checked and if he knew what he was doing and he should have if he's going to handle and fire these things he would have known to look check the cartridges and make sure they're blanks.

I think the charge of criminally negligent homicide should have stayed. But he is a wealthy famous actor at least he was, and people will remember you whatever the hell his roles are I can't think of anything.

If you're holding a gun you need to know about them specially if it's a real gun if you're dealing with child actors should probably use fake firearms.

But yes the way to avoid accidentally shooting somebody is to know about the firearm you're using and no for a fact what's in it so if someone hands you a gun and says it's unloaded you check. And if it's supposed to be loaded with blanks you take the time and check what's a minute or two in a little bit of fumbling putting cartridges back into a revolver to someone's life?

I never accidentally fired a firearm and the reason is always check because I don't want someone to die because I didn't.
