All young gay women, and a few gay men, thinking about 'trans' should watch this video

In keeping with Maher's clip about how transgenderism has gone too far, which is to say,
not denying there are legitimate transgender people, not denying gender dysphoria is a real condition, but there is a demographic, the young gay female who are being pressured by trans activist zealots to change their gender ( and I think gay males should watch this video , as well ) when, in fact, they shouldn't, and, if you are in this category or a parent of a daughter in this category, I recommend watching this Joe Rogan interview with Abigale Shrier, BEFORE you (or your daughter) make any serious transitioning with hormones, especially surgery. The main reason is some of these girls aren't really trans, they are gay and are being talked / peer pressured into becoming males, that taking testosterone will cure their anxiety, etc., only that didn't actually fix them, make their lives better, it wasn't the 'cure' they thought it would be, only to regret it later, and de-transition. Some of them got messed up with the hormone therapy.

Also, the author of the book, "the Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters', Abigail Shrier, has written a book many parents of young women wanted someone to look into and write about but no one would, so she, as a journalist, decided to taking the controversial subject. It's a hot topic, a veritable mine field.

Did you know that a young women, without a therapist's letter or note, could walking into any Planned Parenthood facility, sign a waiver, and get testosterone? With some surgeons, they could sign a waiver, and get their breasts removed. There should be people out there, counselors, trying to talk them out of it, because that's surgery which there is no turning back, and the same for males thinking of transexual surgery. I say wait until you are 25, at least, before making such a life changing decision (but what do I know?)

Testosterone can cause a condition which an lead to requiring (I think she said it was) a hysterectomy. this happened to one young lady and after she snapped out of it, regretting transition, decided she was fine being a girl, but, it was too late, she can no longer have children. All because some trans activist talked her into it.

This is serious subject that requires national attention because it's happening to a lot of young women now. This was never a thing when I was in school in the 60s, but it is now.

Just so you know, I'm all for LGBT rights, equality, anti-discrimination, live and let live, everyone treated with respect, etc. This isn't really about that.

I heard it recently described very well.....

Your child is not trans your child is just impressionable and you are an abuser.

That sounds more like a lack of parenting. No parent engaging with their kid in an honest and helpful way has to worry about them being talked into anything (ie. drugs, sex, transition surgery, etc.). Just like no parent engaging with their kid and paying attention has to worry that he will grab a bunch of weapons and go on a shooting spree.

The benchmark has always been consenting adults. Undermining the consent or the adults undermines the whole thing and it all falls apart.

Like how you want respect because you have opinions and something to say but then you decide to insult others for being trans? That’s okay gas station attendant I didn’t forget what you said or what you did.

You are not being wise as to render such an inaccurate critique without listening to what Shrier has to say. Read her book.

Your accusation is completely, utterly, totally, false. It's not about Joe Rogan or 'conspiracy theories' it's about a legitimate journalist's investigation into a phenomenon that is very real and of a concern to many parents of daughters, and young impressionable females ( and males) who were the reason she did the investigation and wrote the book.

Moreover, as a Bi fellow myself, a member of the LGBT community (but anti-woke, as I believe it's wokeism to go beyond the four letters) I have lived in gay neighborhoods, live among trans people and gays for over 20 years.

I can speak on a modicum of authority that what she is describing in that book is a real thing, worthy of our attention.

and, what you are defending she is not your enemy on that point. You are constructing a strawman in your assumption.

True, but we shouldn't do that without at least making an attempt at advising those who are considering 'consent to surgery or hormone treatment' to the best of our ability, to consider the full context of the subject, of which, they might be, possibly, not aware of and, in that regard, they might make an irreversible decision they might deeply regret later in life. Such as, advising them to listen to the testimonies of those former trans persons who de-transitioned, i.e,, transitioned back, but were now in a hell where they had mutilated themselves.

Let's not let the concept of 'consenting adults' bury the concept of education and common sense, and 'pitfalls' of life changing decisions and be closed to such things, either. No one is suggesting that transgenderism isn't a real thing, or gender dysphoria isn't a real condition, keep that in mind.

I agree, but trans people who are not originally gay, in my experience, are rare.
It is my view that any androgynous and gay person who decides to change their sex because they perceive it as a way to become 'straight' are doing it for the wrong reason.

    And, by the way...
Masquiscat, be careful with your handling of the quote tags, Your response was embedded in my quote, and when I hit the reply button, your response disappeared (which forced me to recopy and paste it here) because the PF forum's software will not included former quotes embedded in the latest quote. ( This is why I always use italics instead of quote tags to quote in the current comment, so they will remain in any responses to my comments).

Now then, thank you for recognizing the context of my OP, some on this forum knee jerked a characterization that was a strawman, a point I was not making.

Anyway, I am against puberty blockers or at least letting the stage play out, if it doesn't fade, we know it's not a stage and the real thing. Children are notorious for going through stages, and letting them be, they will fade ( if they are stages ). For example, when I was 12, I envied, for some darn reason, left handed kids. Since I was practically ambidextrous, I was able to suddenly become 'left handed', I would write left handed ( because I can ) and be a lefty. I can even throw a baseball left handed (though not quite as far as I can with my right, but enough) so I fooled people, some thought I had actually magically became left handed ( I have this unique ability to write backwards left handed and forwards right handed simultaneously ) After a few months, where I noticed no one really gave a ****, it just faded and I went back to being my predominantly right handed self. Similarly, children, being subject to peer pressure and or overly active trans activists (and I suspect there is such a creature ) we should not be quick to give drugs to children. I"m all for letting kids be whatever they want to be, but drugs, for me, unless the kid has some kind of serious condition like a disease, or something, I'm generally against it. Can they not damage a child, who is developing in so many ways at such a young age? I don't know, I'll have to research it.

Yeah as a gay myself I can safely say such things as it’s LGBT not LGB tacked on. You’re not gay if you don’t support the trans community too. Did it ever dawn on you to double check the quality of the source before you start posting? There has been widespread outrage over the book because it’s so inaccurate. Not because of “wokeism” but because it’s a bad book.

I have never insulted you I simply said I refuse to pretend a man is a woman.

Are you still homeless and sleeping on someone else's couch? At least I pay my own rent. You should try that sometimes.

In theory, thats a great plan. In practice, its troublesome. People had the same theory for abortion- 'lets make sure women understand they might regret the abortion before they get one.' This led to legislation in some areas requiring women to watch videos of aborted fetuses and listen to testimonies of regretful aborters prior to being able to access abortion. It started out well-enough intentioned- to prevent people from getting an abortion when they hadn't put as much consideration into it as we would like them to, and ended up being used in some cases as a means to make it too difficult for some people to get an abortion (...or possibly both are exactly the same thing, just depending on how much an individual does or doesn't like abortion).

Ideally we could just OFFER (or even incentivize) access to pre-emptive educational resources for people considering life-altering decisions without coercing them to actually use those services, as I think the coersion is far more likely to invite subjectiveness and agenda into the education that makes it more like indoctrination and/or obstruction. But getting the public sector to offer something without compulsing it is becoming increasingly difficult.

At the end of the day, we have to decide whether or not we're willing to let people take on their own risk of permanantly harming themselves and leave them to it. The most objective way to do this IMO is to say to adults 'you may harm yourself' and say to children 'you may not.'

Whether the book is "good" or "bad", or not as two-sided as you might wish, is still irrelevant to whether the author may be raising some good and important points. She certainly seems to raise some important points we should take note of in that video.

Huh? You have told us you are trans in other threads. Maybe I am misreading you, but in that statement there you seemed to give the false or misleading perception that you were a gay non-trans person supporting the trans phenomena.

Then you're claiming a person can't be gay if they don't support the trans community? Seems like a ridiculously absurd notion to me. There are plenty of gays who have spoken out about this, trying to tell people that the two are not equivalent.

I do support the trans community, and have made an extensive post illuminating my more robust position on gender fluidity and transgenderism, in general, here..

    http://politicalforum.com/index.php...c-here-are-my-in-depth-thoughts-on-it.600248/

If you disagree with any or all of what I wrote, state your disagreement (post to the thread) and I'd be happen to continue the discussion.

No, I didn't bother to check because I expected it, nor do I believe the widespread outrage to be justified. There are many trans will object without giving her the consideration her viewpoint I think deserves. Most of these trans persons are on the hard left. So, it's pretty much a political proposition, this subject.

She, on a couple of interviews, stated clearly the premise of the book, that some young women are prematurely getting talked into changing their sex.

I haven't researched the validity of that statement, but I am giving her the benefit of the doubt because it seems logical to me it's true, there are trans activists out there, the same one's who accuse me of being anti-trans when, in fact, I'm not. There are testimonies of de-transitioned formerly trans people on YouTube who confirm her reportage (insofar as it was discussed in the interviews), so it must be happening. To what, extent, I do not know, but apparently enough mothers of daughters experiencing this with their daughters, concerned about it, had no one to turn to, and got her to investigate it.

But, I, as a member of the LGBT community, am not alone, there is Andrew Sullivan

    https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/02/andrew-sullivan-the-nature-of-sex.html

Sullivan is a famous gay man, and no one can convince me he is 'anti-trans'.

Well, abortion won't disfigure the person getting the abortion ( at least, the vast majority of the time). That is the prime motivation, for me, for pre surgery or hormonal consultation.

For abortion, it's the right trying to shame women into not getting an abortion, so their motive is political and non medical, my motive is medical, as it is psychological/spiritual/emotional.

Either way, I never meant to suggest 'coercion' but 'strong recommendation' for an in-depth consultation, but a pre-consultation for the recommendation I would demand of any doctor or Psychiatrist who support the Hippocratic oath.

And did it dawn on you… in your infinite wisdom and your great support for the LGBT community,

All you are seeing is more people having access to the word “transgender” and the concept, and thus coming out? There is no rapid onset of gender dysphoria. It’s just bigoted sources reporting bigoted results.

At least this gas station attendant can pay his own rent and keep a roof over his head and sleep in his own bed instead of on someone else's couch under their dime.

And you are not qualified to tell someone who is gay or not. Just because you have your own particular thing does not mean you're the spokesperson for everyone.

Pay your own rent and get a roof over your own head before you try to look down on me

I do lol? Besides for the free work I do helping raise my nephew, I just put down a down deposit and first months rent. I’ll be moving out in a month or so. Then I will be going to school. Lol I hate to say but this homeless trans lady is probably going to be better off than you.

And yeah I can. Because I’m a member of the LGBT community and so can call out someone in the community who is is being an exclusion isn’t.
