Actually it's not allowed by the Constitution, they just ignore it and twist it anyway they see fit.

Maybe not. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals recently ruled that illegals and non-violent felons who have served their sentences can have modern firearms.

Not necessarily. I can get my record sealed or expunged but the chances are that would require a lawyer. I may just try.

In the state of Texas, a convicted felon is allowed to have a firearm in the home after 5 years of no trouble.... But.... The gun is not allowed to leave the house with them for any reason whatsoever, including hunting or target shooting or taking it to a gunsmith.

That seems like a reasonable approach

I'm sure it could be. I believe you can go about it yourself but you would probably have a much better chance with an attorney

This is kind of a chicken **** arrest. He wasn't smuggling them into the country to supply whoever they're terrified of in their own country. It was an accident.

It's totally off-topic, but to be fair, the "notorious arms dealer" that you refer to, the evidence against him was rather questionable. His business partner testified against him in exchange for a far more lenient punishment. Undercover authorities baited him into making a verbal agreement to an arms deal, but did not actually find any weapons.
The remaining evidence was just very circumstantial. They assumed because he owned an air transportation business and flew to many conflict countries that he must be involved in illegal arms dealing.
There were also some questionable legal jurisdictional issues too, since he was charged by the U.S., but his alleged crimes were not committed in the U.S. and were not really committed against the U.S., and he was a Russian citizen who had probably never even visited the U.S., and Russia strongly objected to the prison sentence against him.

But we did trade this person for a basketball player that broke the law intended to while there are service members being held there.

Five Americans have been arrested in Turks and Caicos for having ammunition in their luggage in less than a year. This is part of a pattern carelessness that exists elsewhere. Thousands of Americans are caught with guns or ammo each year in their carry-on luggage. The TSA typically fines first time offenders $3,000 - $10,700 USD. The problem is worst in states with lax gun control. I guess if you're in the habit of carrying a gun everywhere you go then you may forget to leave your gun at home when flying. Another disadvantage of concealed carry....

No. it's more about the arrogance of NRA-followers, who think, that their insane star-splendid americanness of the brave and of the free will rescue them everytimes. If you go to another country you will have to follow their rules.

What about the safety personel of the US-airport????

Most of US-Citizens I met have been inelligent, nice gals. But if then somebody told us he's a tourist and we should be thankful for visiting my country, and we should therefore serve him better and faster: This was for sure an American.

What group would you be in?

And even the grandchildren still are thankful. But when you're in Rome, do as the Romans do. Respect local traditions and laws. It has been your father, who risked his life, not his son. There are laws that differ from the USA, and just being American doesn't mean you're above the law.

I don't dispute that but giving someone 12 years for a mistake that harmed no one is absurd. It cannot be justified on any grounds

Yes, I did. But did you read #66, where I wondered about the safety stuff in the US-airport?

I have traveled to over 50 countries and have visited every state (was a goal my work accommodated). I made sure I researched and observed the laws and customs of those places I visited. Going through my luggage and other personal effects to make sure I wasn’t in possession of anything that could result in my violating local laws was always due diligence on my part. Having ammo ( or drugs) in my possession would seem obvious things to be concerned with
even when traversing the various jurisdictions and patchwork of laws in the US.
