I had a dental hygienist that was a JW, who never failed an opportunity to mention it. Finally, she became the first person I that I told I'm an atheist. After that, it got easier. I'm willing to talk about it today, but only when cornered - lol ;)

Why is it necessary to 'pigeon hole' him/her first? Can't the arguments & reasoning be taken at face value, instead of finding a box to put the poster in to reply with talking points?

Why would you think he/she is trying to make any religion 'palatable?' You are assuming proselytizing, but i see no evidence of that. These are intellectual arguments, with no groupthink persuasion going on.

Also, there is no need for borderline ad hominem.. deal with the issues, the reasoning, & the philosophy. Personal innuendo or speculations are only for demeaning insinuations, & do not contribute to the discussion.

I see. So, I have to say things you like to hear in order to be thought of as Christian. Well, judging by YOUR actions and commentary I don't believe there is anything I can say short of lies that will make you happy, and I am not going to do that.

Funny story about a Jehovah Witness I was once tasked to train to be an auditor on my team. Back then you didn't hear the short name of just Witness for jehovah Witnesses. On his first day in the first hour of my starting to train him he asked me if "they" told me that he was a Witness. I immediately thought witness protection program so I told him that I felt it unsafe for him to divulge his being in the witness protection program. He had a great sense of humor which is rare for a religious person so we both had years of joking about his being in the witness protection program. At times when he completed a rather difficult audit where we had to tear someone a new rear entry portal he would that he needed to go back into the witness protection program. He actually converted into the "Witnesses" as an adult because his wife was one.

i do have story about my second run in with postalizing Mormons. It was a weekend and I was the CQ ( Charge of Quarters) for the weekend for the one of our large Airmen dorms that weekend which meant I had to stay sober all weekend. An Airman disturbed my watching a baseball game to tell me say "hey Sarge that some "mormons" were knocking on doors upstairs and trying to make guys join their religion. The "morons" turned out to be Mormons. When I confronted then to inform them that they were not authorized to be in the dorm and most likely not authorized to be on base they claimed that an Airman what's his nose from the whatsmacallit squadron invited them. So I told that needed to have Airman what's his name come over, ID them and take them to his dorm room no where else. One of them started to tell me that it was their right to talk to "soldiers" so I clicked the button on my talkie and a group of APES showed up. APES are Air Police. Back then CQ's stateside are not armed and there where three of them so it was APE time.

Really only 1 choice and the one I made. A fake christian. Based on the posts.

    - - - Updated - - -

Because the person in question claims to be a preacher of of christianity. So the poster did the pigeon holing. And the posts make that claim very very doubtful. Seems to not know much about christianity. But all we can go from is the posts. It's about credibility. And if one can trust the posts of anyone else. For anyone can claim anything on an anonymous forum.

Your perception is correct, I am not trying to make my faith "palatable", I am trying to make it factual. There is entirely too much misinformation and disinformation about us, yet some people are incapable or unwilling to learn. What I wrote is simply fact, and apparently some people are offended by facts. I see this all the time.

How about if you tell me what was wrong with what I wrote instead of insulting me, as if that's an answer? Here it is again, tell me what is factually and historically wrong with this answer:

Because the claim of being a minister and the lack of knowledge in most posts from the one making the claim that is related to christians.
2+2 is not adding up to 4

One more time: what "lack of knowledge" do I have? Or is it just that I don't agree with you?

    The premise of the OP.
I've can't say I've ever met a vegan, because they don't claim it with every word they say as you try to claim
Can't say i'v met an atheist, for they don't say it with every word they say as you try to claim
and I know very few gay people, many I might suspect as gay based on mannerisms, but they don't come up and say if they are or not.

So the OP is a flamebait, troll thread. IMO.

read the quote above your post. THAT is the poster's argument, not one of authority. It is a logical argument, with empirical answers.

The claims, if any, of a poster's expertise are irrelevant, in a logical discussion. That is an appeal to authority, & is a logical fallacy, though i see it all the time in these forums. I have it thrown at me all the time.

This is one of the major problems in discussing things on forums.. it's not really a problem, as much as a tactic used to defeat & demean an opponent, when their logic fails.

Give us some of your knowledge.
The OP is suppose to be doing that, and IMO is nothing more than flamebait and trolling.
But the lack of knowledgeable responses goes back a year or more and I don't keep them locked into my brain.

It's a JOKE - a story with a humorous climax. And telling jokes you don't like disqualifies me from the ministry? You have nothing, not even a sense of humor, no wonder you're so angry.

If one wants to argue on logic and claim to be a christian minister, the logic should be in line with majority of christians. Else, the person has their special brand and then needs more than logic to base a claim on. Else the opinion is as good as an atheists opinion on christianity. And then credibility needs to be established.

I already did and you then claimed I didn't know anything, but still you can't prove me wrong. You ought to stay out of this debating thing, I don't think you quite have the hang of it.

No one makes a joke thread in a religion and philosophy thread.
There is a humor and satire forum for such threads. If this is a joke thread, get in touch with a moderator and tell them to move it to the appropriate forum.

Instead you are denigrating atheists, vegans, and gays. Which IMO, is the intent. Just shows your anger to certain people.

That is exactly what I said about the cults, and you told me I don't know anything. You are arguing in circles.

You don't. You only claim they are cults.
I also said, all religions are cults. Some on a larger scale.
You can believe they are cults, I can say you are wrong. I can say they have the latest revelation from God. And you can say you don't believe they do.

    - - - Updated - - -

    No. I am not.

I don't say the moon is made of green cheese. More false posting on your part.
