I'm talking about the background on which this text was just written. The part of the page on which the messages are typed.

I am wondering if the category "popular posts" is going to be restored? That is where I always looked first on the previous format for the posts that were currently generating the most discussion.

If the site is more secure why does my browser warn my login is not secured on this site?

There is so much greyed out text that it's impossible to read half the forum. If the background color changed from white to anything else, a lot of words would simply disappear.

The text colors are quickly and easily adjusted. And, any time the background color is changed one may have to adjust other items on the page as needed. It's no problem for a person who knows what he's doing, and who has a bit of taste.

I'm actually glad the signatures are not distracting (thanks to the low contrast of the color used). Many of the signatures are boring or silly, and it can be painful to see them more than once.

While we're talking about signatures, could you PLEASE add an option for turning signatures OFF so we don't have to deal with the distraction ever again. Some users think it's cute to use a large font or loud colors in their signatures. I just find them irritating and want them gone.

There's already an option for that in your preferences.
Preferences > options > "Show people's signatures with their messages"

Thanks for your reply. That one change really cleaned up the threads (I hate signatures).

Obviously I'm still learning the new forum software.

    Thanks for asking.
    Thanks for replying.

    Yay! No more signatures.

I would never have thought to ask. I assumed signatures were a fixture.

Hon...I have neither patience nor time to adjust a forum. But thanks for advising me I don't know what I'm doing (I've owned several forums over the years) and have no taste. I don't give a damn about you, so that proves I DO have very good taste. Goodness...even I know how to turn signatures on and off!!!
    Lotsa luck.

Only replying to this post to ensure that you saw this one.

Can we have the [TOP] button again? It was really useful instead of having to scroll and now that there are 20 posts per page instead of 10 it is even more of a chore.

Earlier I mentioned that having a [Cancel] button when making a reply would be useful. Is that still on the ToDo list?

Thanks again for all your hard work. This platform is much better overall.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was not suggesting that you should adjust the forum's fonts or appearance. We users of the forum have very limited, if any, control of the appearance of the site.

The owners of this site are taking questions and suggestions about things THEY might do to improve the forum. And I meant that the site owners and their technical people can easily adjust the font colors, sizes, background colors, etc., as they work to complete the design of their website (IF they choose to do so). They stated in the opening post that they are still working on the design of this site. And in another post one of the owners said she is not happy with the dark colors at the very top of the pages.

I don't know about this new format, but with the old format, you could change to 40 posts per page, which I've always done on VBull forums. I haven't poked around here to find forum preferences.

Haven't found that setting yet but how hard can it be to have a [Top] button if vBulletin could do it?

On my computer keyboard I have a set of 6 keys right above the arrow keys. On the right side (of the 6 keys), the top key is a "page up" key (it scrolls the page up one screen). Below that key, still on the right side there is a “page down” key (it scrolls down one screen). The names are written on the keys.

In the middle of these 6 keys, at the top there is a “home” key (it scrolls to the very top of the web page). Below that, still in the middle, there is an “end” key (it scrolls to the end (very bottom) of the web page).

After reading your post, it sounds like this is what you want to accomplish (with the “top” button). Only this is an easier and faster way to get to the top or bottom of web pages because your hands don’t have to leave the keyboard and you don’t have to mouse around trying to hit the “top” button.

    What's "wrong" with easier?

I seem to remember an issue you had had, being a rather "easy" fix as well.

I don't understand your post, or why you even jumped into this.

I just posted some information that might be helpful to Derideo_Te. He asked a question and I was trying to be helpful.

My bad if I took you the wrong way. Been a **** one day off for 7, w/o end in sight.

    Apologize if I overreacted.

Apology accepted. It's easy to mis-read someone's real intent in an internet post. Have a good night.

    Thanks.

The only problem is that I am using a laptop with a limited set of keys on it. Page up and down are on the same keys as the arrows and even using the function keys with the Home key still doesn't take me all the way to the top.

Don’t know if this will help, but here goes...

On my Mac, I can go to System Preferences>Keyboard>Shortcuts. Once there I choose “App Shortcuts” from the list of options, and I can assign my own keyboard shortcuts for most applications. I’ve had to do this a couple of times and it has worked out well.

In your posts you didn’t say what computer platform you use. And I don’t know if this option is available on Windows, but it probably is.

(Can you tell I don’t know much about Windows? Lol...). Well, that's my last idea. Hope you find a solution.

Yo...thanks for that info. I've looked at the keys many times...and wondered what they are for.

Gonna love fooling with them now.

I like the new system...and I am learning to use all the doodads. No so easy for a tech incompetent like me.
