There's some truth to that. But if one has to work 3 jobs with no benefits, for minimum wage, and then can't cover basic expenses, what do they gain? There's a thing called "quality of life" that should be important to each of us, not only for ourselves, but for the society that we're all a part of. Quality of life is a far better measure of a nation's greatness than the sum of its wealth. When we do things to improve the nation's quality of life for its citizens, we are truly working to make that nation "great again."

The cuts made by congress during the Clinton Admin were an exception - but it wasn't that they wanted to cut spending - they had to. After 12 years of Red administrations the interest on the debt was over 25%. At 30% alarm bells go off at the IMF - the ship is taking in water faster than it can be bailed out and if something is not done the ship will sink.

Bush then went from a near balanced budget to a 1.4 Trillion dollar deficit.

1. Even Republicans disagree with you. While they chastise her on national media, they secretly admire her & fear her BECAUSE she's so smart & so very good at public relations.
2. Capitalism alone is a terribly selfish form of economics. It rewards only those already in possession of wealth. Capitalism coupled with socialism together, can soften the impact of capitalism on the lower classes to a great extent, while maintaining many of the positive aspects of capitalism within the economy. As AOC suggests, capitalism alone is too selfish toward the wealthy to deserve our support.

It's been all over computer media news that Republicans are losing their minds over AOC. They hate her politics but admire her media savvy & her ability to communicate to the public.

 

Capitalism has made billionaires of a few lucky Chinese, and raised the living standards of those living in cities. The rest of China is relatively unaffected. China also has more socialist programs in their country than we do, which helps alleviate the hard, selfish edge of capitalism there.
