The japanese americans deserve nothing! One of the most barbaric races in history! They were put in a camp while their people overseas speared babies! The japanese in america got off easy IMO.

What national origin is your family tree?
Are you willing to be detained because of the actions of people you have never met?

Japanese Americans were already compensated, it is sad that so many “patriots” here have zero idea about their very own nation that they scream they are so proud of. I am not sure if it is just a stupidity, racism, or a combination of the two.

Mama Mia he did, his direct words have been sourced here three times.

He also said it would disappear “like a miracle” and would be gone by April.

Sounds to me like AOC is just trying to compete with the virus for attention.

”During a Feb. 28, 2020, campaign rally in South Carolina, President Donald Trump likened the Democrats' criticism of his administration's response to the new coronavirus outbreak to their efforts to impeach him, saying "this is their new hoax." During the speech he also seemed to downplay the severity of the outbreak, comparing it to the common flu.” Which is what is being discussed which was indicated in post 38: “So the response that democrats were demanding was the hoax — that we, as a nation, needed to be prepared and doing something to prevent it’s spread — not the virus itself? Is that really your argument?”

I have posted his words numerous times, we know what he was referring to — we also knew what he said about the virus itself. You can say whatever and some random abbreviations but he downplayed this and I am still fighting with my elderly relatives with health issues to take this seriously only to be met with “trump said it was fine”.

Notice the words "seemed to"? Your continual use of the word "we" seems to imply that everyone agrees with you. Well you would be wrong.

If your elderly relatives don't understand that in the beginning the WHO and China were lying about the severity it should be up to you to explain that to them.

As more facts came to light obviously opinions changed. Perhaps you should direct them to what is being said NOW instead of bleating about what you think he said in the early days when no-one knew what we were in for.

Are you denying that he said “We have it totally under control”, and recently “Just stay calm. It will go away.” He has drastically downplayed this and only a fool would state otherwise.

Depends on who you ask — everything from systematic racism to laziness brought on by the welfare state to genetics has been touted as the reason.

    Personally, I don’t know.

The government forced them to do this? When did this occur?

When did the Government force brown people to do anything? If AOC wants reparations for black and brown, then I deserve my share of your tax dollars.

No he didn’t, Trump claimed the Democrats blaming him is the hoax. And he is right.

While democrats were busy impeaching him, he was defending this nation. His travel ban bought us much time, saving many lives.

Chuck and Pelosi were encouraging people to go to china town in large groups to spread the virus. Seemingly because they actually want more people to die to makeTrump look bad.

Offering reparations during a crisis like this is absolutely about guilt. And there is nothing logical about it.

The CDC issued its first warning on Jan 8.

    Trump held campaign rallies on Jan 9, Jan 14, Jan 28, Jan 30, Feb 10, Feb 19, Feb 20, Feb 21 & Feb 28.

Senate voted to acquit Feb 5 which he didn’t

    He golfed on Jan 18, Jan 19, Feb 1, Feb 15, Mar 7 & Mar 8.

The first time he admitted the coronavirus might be a problem was Mar 13.

That is not defending the nation and blaming the Senate “investigation” that called zero witnesses and trump didn’t even participate in as causing his failure is, at best, intellectually dishonest.

trump claimed the Democrats calling him out on inaction was the hoax, he then downplayed the virus in the next sentence.

They didn’t call him out on inaction as he objectively has taken more action than any democrat. They claimed he was not taking it seriously when he was by any objective measure taking it far more serious than themselves seeing as he did travel bans which Dr. Fauci claims absolutely bought us much time and therefore saved many lives. He did this while being impeached, so yes he saved lives and protected the country while democrats were more concerned with impeaching. Meanwhile Pelosi and Chuck encouraged people to go out in large numbers to Chinatown, undoubtedly spreading the virus even further. So if your argument is that Trump didn’t take it seriously enough, then it only stands to reason he took it more serious than democrats.

    Sure, run with that.

Except he hasn’t and his response is mocked the world over.
Him outbidding states, appointing his sil to handle the process, refusing to commit to a unified response and downplaying the concerns is not — objective or otherwise — taking it seriously.

Except he actually has, and no his response isn’t as we are doing better than most countries. He has used wartime powers in order to create items we need and gotten them to the states that need them, assisting states as necessary as is his position.

But at least you aren’t attempting to refute the objective fact that democrats didn’t take it seriously far after Trump had already taken actions that ultimately protected us and saved lives.
