Are Tattoos the Mark of being Smart or being Dumb? Tattoos to me mean people don't have an idea of who they are, so they have to mark themselves up to show others who they want to be... or who they think they are...seems very silly to me. What are your thoughts, is there a marked difference between people who have tats and those that don't? Or perhaps you think there is nothing to it. What would you think of someone who got a tat of Obama or Bush? That would be very silly would it not? But I bet there are people out there that do that sort of thing. And What about all those girls who get tats on their lower back? Whats that for, to entertain the men who are pushing them around the room on the carpet? You'd be better off taping a TV to your butt if thats the case, it will give something for the men to do, and you can put a coaster on your head for his beer.... LOL!
The guy is obviously quite tough, considering he has Hello Kitty on his noggin. What a champion, and I bet the tattoo artist wet themselves when he requested that one.
I don't care for tatoos...for myself. Neither my wife or I have a tatoo. My two oldest kids do have one. I discouraged it, but ultimately it's their body & they have to live with it. I told them it shows how different they are - just like everybody else. Tatoos aren't for me, but live & let live. I don't think it shows a lack of intelligence, but in some, a lack of maturity.
The other day a rather young lady came into the store to do some shopping for groceries. She had so many tatto's that it was hard to see her skin. Wearing only a halter top and a pair of shorts, everybody was laughing at her.
Neither. It depends on the person and the tattoo. Your picture is probably one of a drugged out moron. I have a few tattoos and I plan on getting a few more, but I put a lot of thought into mine before getting them done. Mine deal with my beliefs and ideology. That would be stupid.
There are doctors with tattoos, having a tattoo has zero bearing on you're intellect. Having said that, people who think they are smart and tell everyone so are generally the most boring people I have met in my life. I don't care for tattoos myself but it's just anpersonal style voice, nothing more.
it means that you're angry with your family. Or had lots of problems as a child. In men, it means that they can't get girls by being themselves, so they have to attract the opposite sex by having one. Girls seem to fall for it, I guess because women like art more than men? Overall, it's a sign of insecurity and its a social networking method.
My Dad had one tattoo on his arm, it was the badge of his RAF regiment. I don't think RAF officers are daft. Most people here have tattoos, male or female. They became really popular about 15 yrs ago and its right across the spectrum, not for daft people and not just for men. Prior to that, they were considered a bit scruffy by those who did not have them or hard by those who did. Now loads of women have them, not just young women but all ages. It is too common to be considered something daft people do. If you go onto a beach in Europe, you are surrounded by tatts. Even the men have black Celtic patterns growing up their legs I felt conspicuous by their absence, but I don't like tattoos and don't have any. All men should have abs tattooed on their stomachs, to give us something decent to look at on the beach.
I don't care about tats personally. If people want to mark up their bodies in some vain attempt to stand out, so be it. That really doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that every time I go out on the prowl, and I'm talking to some hottie, one of the first questions I'm usually asked is.. "Do you have any tats?" and when I say "Nope, I'm a blank canvas and I like it that way." they scrunch their little faces up and say "You should get one though." and I say "Why?" they always look at me like it's the dumbest question in the world and say "Because their sexy!" This happens all the time, and it's ridiculous that a woman would let such a petty quality as tattoos decide whether a man is attractive or not. It's not a deal breaker, but it's annoying none the less that women are coming to expect every man to come equipped with his own body art. I don't have anything that I feel so strongly about that I want it immortalized on my skin. I'm hoping that one day, when everyone has a tattoo, and I don't.. that I'll be considered unique and special.
General observation: tattoos aren't highly correlated with genius--look at your average trailer park........ compare it to your average suburban neighborhood. Which has more tattoos per capita?
Tatoos have been around for a long time and more than likely still be here well into the future. From wikipedia: Tattooing has been a Eurasian practice since Neolithic times. "Ötzi the Iceman", dated circa 3300 BC, bore 57 separate tattoos: a cross on the inside of the left knee, six straight lines 15 centimeters long above the kidneys and numerous small parallel lines along the lumbar, legs and the ankles, exhibiting possible therapeutic tattoos (treatment of arthritis). Tarim Basin (West China, Xinjiang) revealed several tattooed mummies of a Western (Western Asian/European) physical type. Still relatively unknown (the only current publications in Western languages are those of J P. Mallory and V H. Mair, The Tarim Mummies, London, 2000), some of them could date from the end of the 2nd millennium BC. One tattooed Mummy (c. 300 BC) was extracted from the permafrost of Altaï in the second half of the 15th century (the Man of Pazyryk, during the 1940s; one female mummy and one male in Ukok plateau, during the 1990s). Their tattooing involved animal designs carried out in a curvilinear style. The Man of Pazyryk, a Scythian chieftain, is tattooed with an extensive and detailed range of fish, monsters and a series of dots that lined up along the spinal column (lumbar region) and around the right ankle
While some have them, I've always believed that tattoos on military officers was unprofessional. Certainly anything visible while in uniform.
I haven't met a hillbilly redneck who didn't feel proud of his or her tats. Seems to me they make a statement saying how pathetically insecure they are in life. Atention getters need people to notice them who would ordinarily look the other way. I'm a bit surprised that liberals aren't sporting hammer & sickle tats on their faces.
Tattoos are pretty big among those in the Army, and espcially the Marines. Just the modern marks of our current warriors.
Perhaps among the enlisted. I would not say that tattoos were prevalent in the officer corps of USAF... at least during my stint.
Yeah, it actually doesn't seem big among the AF crowd at all though...then again, the AF is full of nerds so.....I only kid
More expensive and technical toys seems to attract the nerd types. I do know of a few younger officers that had tattoos...it's not like it's banned. Just as long as they aren't visible in uniform. Certainly in the Navy/Marines, it's almost a rite of passage to get a tattoo... however it was quite a shock to me to see so much ink when I deployed with an expeditionary wing to joint operations overseas. Lots of ink everywhere. I suppose it's a sign of the times.
Sign of the times maybe, but I've seen more than one old timer with a half naked lady on his arm. My wife's grandfather, a World War 2 vet, for example. Outside of the one on the palm of my hand and forearm, all of my tattoos are hidden. I've racked up some ink over the years though.
I have no ink. Whatever memories I have of the experience are preserved in the mind's eye. I believed that tattoos were unprofessional from a leadership perspective.
I've never seen them that way. I don't look at anyone any different if they have a somewhat normal tattoo...I thought you had a problem with them due to religious reasons though?
Tattoo's are smart if yer a drunken sailor on shore leave and dint get past the 10th grade. Tattoo's are pretty smart if you plan on living in a Trailer Park yer entire life, eating junk food and jiggling the toilet to flush. Tattoo's are even smart if Going to College, don't try Heroin and decide to have a sex change operation In Sweden w/o a student visa.
Other than Leviticus, which is Old Testament and more applicable to Judaism; there is nothing that I'm aware of that prohibits a Christian from getting a tattoo. I've seen plenty of Christian themed tattoos. It's how I raised..and my Dad is a WWII veteran. I was raised to associate tattoos with a rougher element.
