My buddy used to shoot pool at a Local Tattoo Parlor and I went
there often to shoot pool with him.The Tattoo Parlor owner was
a good pool player and a trivia buff. But we never liked each other and
he was loud. All the local Tattoo Parlor owners knew each other and
    were friends.

Some people are going to far, I think.

Sure, I'll never get a tattoo because I think (a) doesn't fit my more minimalist style and a tattoo isn't exactly that, and (b) because I always was learned that only folks down on the social ladder had'm.

Note, that I'm not talking about ridiculous stuff like a small tattoo on your chest, belly or other more intimate place. I'm talking about the ones who go full throttle, e.g. bikers, hardcore music lovers, etc.

Not to mention the overall idea of "hipness" to get a tattoo. It's like Apple and her products, endlessly hyped. (Actually, I read a nice opinion piece today of Apple, and it was linked to tattoos -- guess I should post it.)

    Pretty boring.

Ah you don't listen. How many times do I have to tell you, he is a Rocker. Crushing heavy metal. His band is making headway and if you are good I will let you see a video, to watch with the sound down because it's not your kind of music or mine. A great big, handsome but hairy rocker who doesn't like gays btw, because when they talk to him they behave like girls and flirt like girls and it's apparently just not right.:-D I have tried, Jan, but fear he is a homophobe. The beautiful, artistically gifted, well mannered model who could cook that he used to date (whom I was hoping would become a permanent fixture being perfect) was dumped because she took up a university place (can you feckin believe it). Said he is only 21 and too young to wait. He is currently dating a 27 yr old bank manager who has been described by others as lovely but "driven".:omg:

Anyway, what is a subtle tattoo? You got one or you don't

Herk, get off your high horse, man. In response to one of your posts, no I'm not judging you, but debating your opinion of the OP. And it's looking more and more like an age issue.

    Viv,...

There is nothing more sexy than to rent an old vespa to tour a nice island (e.g. Corsica, Sardinia,...) and sit in the back with your arms over a nice young man who's driving, with a slightly haired chest and a nice small tattoo on it -- I give you that. That's when I like tattoos.

To have a tattoo of Musti (or is it Hello Kitty?) on your forehead is just crazy. BTW -- Musti is Belgian (orginated in 1945) and Hello Kitty (orginated in 1975) is nothing more than a Japanese rif-off of Musti. Just some trivia, so y'all know that from now on.

(I'm looking for a pic of a nice subtle tattoo)

    Ieuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuw!

In my quest via Google (SafeSearch is off) to find a nice tattoo on a slightly haired chest, sure -- I got a personal picture that describes what I was talking above but i'm not going to post it for obvious reasons (it's personal) -- I found a pic of a male porn model that has tattoos all over his body!!!

Repeat: all over, even on his you-know-what.

It looks fugly, and what the hell, his *thing* needed to be hard for sure for the tattoo man to apply it.

    And the pain!

It's official now: people who have tattoos are crazy. Fact!

Interesting subject as well as comments.
Don't care for tatts myself, husband doesn't either, but we are both agreeing that its a matter of self expression, so whatever floats one's boat.
I have met some fantastic people with tatts, and some rather not so nice ones without, so one can't really judge a person on their outward appearance or expression of personality. I prefer honest people with integrity, whatever the body art, or lack thereof.
Heavily tattoed people make people's head turn and aren't always welcome by everyone, but that's probably no surprise.

Yer statement holds no water. It's PC Parade time.
Just go to any Penitentiary or watch most any Prison show.
You can pretty well tell the white collar crime types from the really
    nasty hardened criminal.
Or even use an old Police lineup as example. They don't stick well
dressed, respectably neat guys in that lineup.Well maybe - Dragnet -
    did on occassion.

The first proveable example of this was Truman Capote's
    - In Cold Blood -.The Non-fiction Bestseller turned movie was
    a B & W shocker.2 Ex-cons on parole convice themself that a
Farm owner,a devout Christian and family man had a bankroll
hidden on his farm in a safe.
The one con who diid all the actuall killing was Perry.
" Look at me boy! Take a good look! Cause i'm the last living thing
you're ever gonna see. " as Perry Smith used his shotgun to
eliminate the lives of the Clutter family. As wholesome and clean cut
as a family in America could be.
Perry of course had a Tattoo.
He also liked to draw { express himself in an artful manner }.
    Spare me this artful nonsense.

I actually think girls with lots of really well done artistic tattoos are sexier than girls without tattoos. Chest and sleeve tattoos on girls, and even some neck tattoos are a plus for me. It's a matter of opinion. I'm a fan of subtle septum piercings too, and alot of you would probably think thats weird.

Obvioulsy to end all this madness it's as simple as this.
    Tattoo's are a maturity issue.Some parents aren't mature as
parents so they never had it in them to give wise advice as to what
    NOT TO DO.
Maybe if a survey was done asking Seniors of the merits of a Tattoo
    that would be prudent.I mean,in some society,like the Japanese,the
elderly are worshipped for their Wisdom.
I still need the explanation as to why a Tattoo.
Because they can look cute like a new Hairdo. ?{rhetorical}.
