Christianity does NOT "let it remain a mystery forever...".

Christians take specific guidance from THEIR various interpretations of the acts of god and man in the bible.

In fact, Christians declare themselves to be judges, as Adam declared himself to be by eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Far from recognizing that original sin, Evangelical Protestants see their acts of judgement as a duty, a critical part of their calling.

You do not get to be the sole source of interpretation of the bible for the rest of humanity.

Also, like Adam, you don't get to be the judge.

 

If you consistently apply your principle up there, you
will plunge head long into Nihilism -- because you
could be wrong on the top 5 most important values
in your life. That means you don't know anything is
true. And that is pure Nihilism.

However, its a safe bet that you are NOT going to
consistently apply your principle. Why is that?
Because you don't have to. And you don't want to.

You don't have to because there is no authority anywhere
that can force you to be consistent. And its to you personal
advantage to be inconsistent. You pay no price for being
inconsistent.

So?

So you can continue to apply your principle of YOU COULD
BE WRONG to the points Christians make and that lets you
off the hook. That means you do not have to seriously pay any
attention to what the Bible says about your spiritual condition.

And what does it say?

It says that unless you believe on the Lord Jesus as your Savior
you will, when you die, experience John 3:16's perish.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Note the contrast in John 3:16
Perish is juxtaposed with eternal life.

Now note John 3:18

"Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does
not believe stands condemned already because they have not
believed in the name of God’s one and only Son."

So?

So you can easily avoid all that and never take it seriously by simply
posting back and saying:

Anybody on this earth loves you --you could be wrong.
That cold bloodied murder for money-profit is wrong -- you could be wrong on that.
That Hitler was an evil man --you could be wrong about that.
That armed robbery is evil -- you could be wrong on that.
You assume that the secularist position that there is no such thing as Gehenna (Hell) --
you could be wrong about that.

Another example:
On your lights of Bob is happily married with a wife and three children
and believes that he is the father of those three children, Bob could be
wrong about that.

But like I said up-thread you will not be consistent with your principle.
You will pick and choose where to apply it and you will apply it
where it suits your personal advantage and you will refuse to apply
it when it does NOT suit your personal advantage.

Yet its a good bet that you will continue to announce to the world
that you are intellectually honest.

But, we can not afford to have this hate continue (or worsen) within our population.

That is what our founders noted and responded to by separating our government from religious systems of belief.

BUT, you are NOT the arbiter. Even your own religion points out in Genesis that you are not the judge, and that believing you are is the original sin.

 

Dismissing "truth"? Is your claim of religious "rightiousness" truth or merely a chosen belief? If it's chosen, the reasons are irrelevant, you most definitely are capable of simply being wrong. As for intellectual honesty, I say this is who you tell yourself you really are when you can't get past blind faith. Projection is after all confession. I suggested that you can have your beliefs! You can't interpret that as hate.

What I pointed out is that we have to get along. We have to respect the differing cultures, beliefs about religion, etc. that are held by our diverse population. Our founders recognized that and thus drew a line between government and religion. Even at that time they had serious diversity in religious belief.

And, I also pointed out that you can't be the judge of what is truth or what is intellectually honest, etc.

Your own Genesis warns against your decision to be the judge.
