    The future is coming!

If we can get past the ethical issues of this reproductive technology, then this will open a new chapter of human reproduction. No more pregnancy complications, and even have a bit of genetic code re-write to get rid of genetic conditions. It sounds like a dream come true!

Or watch a video of this EctoLife technology:

This sounds a long ways off, but even if it were right around the corner, so what? The issue isn't a lack of wombs, but people who want to be parents. That's what's in short supply in the industrialized west.

Seems like someone looking to start a cult could order up a few thousand acres in Montana, order up 50,000 babies, hire team of people to raise/brainwash them, the set off for world domination.

There are plenty of people with enough money to pull something like that off.

    And this is from MSN?

And people wonder why I laugh at what most people call the "news media" today. With garbage like that being reported as news, no wonder people are getting more stupid every year.

I bet the same kind of people who believe this is "real science" also believed the Bonsai Kitten thing was real 2 decades ago.

The author of that article sounds like a skeptic who refuses to believe anything is possible until he tries it out for himself. Even when he is presented with possibilities that are true he says they aren't possible.

There's plenty of people who want babies who can't have them now. This would just change who has them.

Seeing how the natural parents are done this can't come soon enough.

Maaaaate! Have you ANY and I mean ANY idea what a complex chemical workshop our livers are? The foetus interacts with the bloodstream of the mother in so many interconnected ways

They won’t be growing them as babies. Foetuses are pluripotent stem cells - think replacement organs

I don't know if this is "it", or just more internet click bait (I too get that MSN feed and not everything is exactly kosher), but eventually artificial wombs will become a reality and we will have to address it, because this is the ramification of idiotic culture wars.

I've had encountered aliens and I know that they have this technology and they consider it safer than natural birth.

I think someone already mentioned it, but artificial meat grown in Petri dishes will hit the headlines soon.

All these technologies are fueled by projected demand. Growing beef and chicken is already known to be a major eco problem, but the RvW being turned over is also creating a market that the conservatives never even considered.

Don't be surprised at some idiotic Repub congress critter to try and pass a bill to eliminate the possibility of this coming into reality. It would follow their standard MO.

I mean the same people in the west who aren't wanting children or have a single kid instead of a few.

Right, which puts this back to my original statement; the problem isn't the lack of functional wombs, it's the lack of willing parents.

The reasons that procreation rate is declining do not include inability to have babies.

It's mostly a matter of economics and lifestyle. Babies cost a lot of money and take a lot of time.

China and some western countries are trying to encourage child birth in order to head off their population problems and are failing at it.

For the US, our procreation rate is below replacement rate.

No, it is not. It is still growing, and shows no signs of stopping.

Holy hell, we already went over this in depth. The average children born to each woman is now at an average of 2, and that has hardly changed in 50 years.

It is growing at an average of 1% per year, it is not shrinking.

You really need to stop lying.

Please read my post. Once again it appears you are fixated on population growth, which is a different issue, as population increases for more than one reason.

The fertility rate for the US is measured by various agencies to be 1.64 births per woman in 2020, up by a miniscule amount to 1.78 in 2022.

It takes 2.1 births per woman to break even in population when its based solely on procreation of the existing population.

We've been below that 2.1 births per woman considered the replacement rate for the last 10 years, with the trend being generally slightly downward.

No, it does not. Women are over 50.5% of the population.

You keep using these silly claims, that have no basis in reality. Just like this entire topic, no basis in reality.

Ok, I give up. The story's fake, and we'll have to wait for another day for artificial wombs.

A skeptic is something more of us should be. In the current era, far too many people are willing to believe anything that is presented to them, with absolutely no rational thought put into it. Such beliefs purely on emotion, regardless if it is realistic, logical, or even practical.

The biggest red flag of any claims seen on YT or elsewhere is if they use lots of CGI and little real life images. Another is the use of stock images, I see this all the damned time. And it is not even hard to do, with computers we can do it in seconds.

For an example, this is one I see all the damned time.

    https://www.google.com/search?newwi...T5VBAwQ2A4oAXoECAcQAw&biw=1565&bih=1057&dpr=1

This same image is used by thousands of companies worldwide. And look at press releases for almost anything from water desalinization to organic produce, and you see the same damned thing. They are not actually doing anything, just using stock photos or images stolen from elsewhere to try and raise money.

People need to be more skeptical, and questioning things like this. There are a lot of sites dedicated to busting things like this, and the sad part is that more often than not people get pissed because they would rather defend a fraud than admit they were fooled.

Far be it me to agree with @WillReadmore , but he's right about this issue. To "break even" you need a fertility rate of 2.1.

Now our population is increasing, but it's not due to our fertility, it's due to legal and illegal immigration. Like our industrial base, we've outsourced our population growth.
