No, religion has nothing to do with it. In any event, the Qur'an was not written by a man; it contains the very words of God recited by the Prophet.
storytellers around a campfire are not historians, and many people were literate in arab culture and many surrounding enormous empires were very literate the Jews, the Armenians, the Greeks, the Syrians and the Persians. Even after muhammad supposedly invaded all of them they had no knowledge or record of his existence. Yet, they recorded everything from the price of wheat, to the generals daughter getting married, to simple poetry, but it took over 100 years for anyone too bother writing down anything about muhammad because of what? did they run out of papyrus? If human storytellers were the ones who wrote it down, how is not written by humans? care to explain? There is alot of evidence that it wasn't even written in arabic originally. Since words and names dont translate well like the name of muhammads wife originally meant stillborn. as in dead baby? who names their daughter dead baby? your from lebanon anyone other than muslims naming their kids dead baby these days? there are zero accounts outside of islam that muhammad ever existed, the whole thing is a fantasy. As is Judaism, as is Christianity. Deal with it
I've repeatedly acknowledged and condemned this fact. Disagreement is one thing, but I do ask that you not lie.
Are you one of the theists saying that Communism represents all atheism, including non-communist atheists? If not, then you are not "one of the theists in question." If they claim that people like Jihadists represent all theists, then they are just as wrong. I haven't really seen too much of that. What I have seen are threads where Christians are challenged with the mass murder in their scriptures and threads where mass murder in religion is specificly brought up to combat the claim that theists are more uniquely moral than atheists are. Then take it up with the individuals that are not treating you as individuals. Don't use it as an excuse to make blanket judgments about other people. Should I stop treating red headed people as individuals since some read headed individuals have failed to treat me as an individual? Of course not. That's ridiculous. Just treat others the way you would like to be treated.
Secular doesn't mean anti-religious. It doesn't even preclude a State Religion. It just means non-theocratic, that is "not subject to or bound by religious rule " It was dictated to him by the Angel Gabriel, who gave him the ability to write. Just how this is so different from Joseph Smith's Golden Tablets I've never been able to figure.
Sorry to burst your bubble but the Qur'an is a story written by a man named Muhammad. This man claimed that what he was writing was being dictated to him by the Angel Gabriel. This is story is silly right from the get go as it took 20 years for Muhammad to write the Qur'an. This angel must have been terribly inefficient giving Muhammad only one word a day The Qur'an we see today was compiled by Uthman - third caliph around 20 years after the death of Muhammad. Uthman ordered all personal copies of the Qur'an burnt because there were differences from region to region. Today there is a debate as to whether or not the Uthman codex is authentic and complete. So .. even if the words that Muhammad did write down were from Gabriel we can not be sure that the copy of the Qur'an that exists today is an accurate representation of those words. What the real rational for Muhammad putting pen to paper we can never know for sure but it is highly unlikely that the words were from God. Religion had been used for years to control the raging masses. The "fear factor" had evolved over time as an effective control methodology. The Egyptians had the concept of "Maat" where ones deeds were weighed on the scales of justice after death. If you were found to light you were fed to the monster. Over time the "fear factor" was ramped up. After Constantine Christianity conjured up the most terrible and scary idea the mind could imagine. If one questioned, or disagreed with some human interpretation of "The holy Book" one risked Torture in the afterlife. Not just for a couple days but the most horrific torture the mind could imagine and this would occur for an eternity. This is a sophisticated and very effective mind control technique. The ability of such concepts to control the masses was an amazing thing. 200 years after the Church got power was when Muhammad was around and he would have been amazed at the ability of Christianity to control. Muhammad's people were a bunch of conflicting tribes with little structure. Muhammad saw that both Persia and Christianity had been very successful in uniting people under monotheism using he fear factor. Muhammad co-opted the God of Abraham and then ramped the fear factor up to new levels. It is quite amazing actually. A further evolution of a millennia old method to control the masses. Muhammad really reinforces the fear factor and repeats it over and over (repetition is another mind control technique). The Qur'an has the fear factor on almost every second page. "Do this and be thrown into the fire, Do that and be tortured for eternity" Every second page .. over and over and over. It is no wonder many of these Muslim folks seem so scared all the time. I would be scared too if I thought that putting a foot in the wrong spot would land me in eternal torture.
There is another religion that makes a similar claim. So why believe Islam over Christianity when both claim to represent the word of God? To believe the Qur'an is to place a huge amount of trust in the Prophet, just as to believe the Bible is to place a huge amount of trust in its authors.
I don't think it was any different. JS vision is the latest to mankind, therefore, it should take precedence over all others. Because as has been written, God will change his messages to humans.
Don't Christians believe that their own God once caused the death of every human on the planet except for one family?
The belief in an entity that does not exist in no way, shape, or form bestows any sort of morality on anyone. It simply shows a propensity to be illogical which is often a contributing factor in immoral behavior. The belief of Deities has been used for thousands of years by men who would seek to rule other men as justification for their exploitation.
Oh,... Sorry. Well those communist nations legally cancelled the institution of Religion and closed down the churches, which made them examples of what atheists then do, in regard to atrocities.
America is now half secular but was 90% Christian before 1950. What we see now is 1 million annual abortions, half the babies illegitimate, Welfare enormous, fatherless kids suffering child abuse, and 70% of all violent crime caused by bastards.
Like The Revelation in the NT? John said he got the words directly from Jesus. - - - Updated - - - There are young people in muslim nations which today can repeat every word of the Koran from memory. I saw TV which explained this.
Yes. The process is called "Extinction." Extinction is what Reality does if a species will nit adapt to its environmental changes. That is the Truth, about Reality. These two idea support the concept of Trinity. Men can find and figure out Truth, which they then can use to assume it describes Reality. Reality men can never directly see.
Yes, at first they did. People always forget the part where they re-instituted many of those religions, though -- under their iron-fisted rule, of course. Regardless, their treatment of the religious was abhorrent. Not by a long shot. They were atheists, and they did do this. That gives you no right to generalize about atheists as a whole as if we agree with those actions. If Communists are "examples of what atheists then do, in regard to atrocities" then Jihadists and Christian militant extremists are "examples of what theists then do, in regard to atrocities". Both are sloppy generalizations.
So that is the result of being a Christian nation? Guess if we had been a Buddist nation that wouldn't have happened.
NO....as humankind (Man) not only invented but is the only creature or entity capable of writing text, it would be the ONLY thing that could possibly write a book.
Today, Islam is saying exactly that... Rev. 17:3 So he carried me away (in the spirit of thought), into the wilderness (of my imagination) and I saw (as if) a woman, ... .... (those who have Institutionized a system of sexual seduction into a failed matrimony), sit upon a scarlet coloured beast (of a brazen and corrupt sexually misdirected economic system: [Dan 3:1-5]), full of names of (Pagan) blasphemy, having seven heads: (which existed in (1) Egypt, (2) Assyria, (3) Babylon, (4) Persia/Mede, (5) Greece, (6) Rome (7) the whole of Western Culture to follow)... ... having ten horns upon these seven heads: (1. Undivided Empire; capital Rome: [305 AD], 2. Western Roman Empire: (Romulus Augustus): [to 476 AD], 3. Eastern Roman: Byzantine Empire, [1453 AD] 4. Charlemagne, [800 - 1000 AD] 5. Holy Roman Empire, [1200 AD-1492 AD] 6. Italy, [Renaissance, 16th century] 7. Spain, [17th century] 8. France, [18th-19th Century] 9. Britain, [19th-20th century] 10. Nazi Germany, [20th century]) 11). (America?)
God being all powerful and all knowing could have written a book if it had chosen to do so and if it had a reality.
IF...such an entity existed....it would most certainly not have bothered to write a book. Nor would it have need of doing so when it could just think it into our feeble little minds.
Two things here: 1. After a century, the number of people who had memorized the Qur'an had dwindled. This is why the Caliphate at the time considered it necessary to compile the Qur'an into one book. 2. It became essential to record the authentic sayings of the Prophet into a book because people started to make up stories about things he did not say. As to the question of his existence, I don't know why this is even up for debate. Scholars from the West to the East agreed he existed. - - - Updated - - - His companions had memorized are written down what he recited.
