Believe me they’ve acted on his whining a couple of times already moving a couple of my threads that were news where they came from to opinion here because the one I responded to above knows more about what’s news and not than Fox News does it seems.

Yawn, more overblown conservative conspiracy claptrap. Let me know when anyone's SMS messages are, in fact, censored. Some "Biden Ally" investigating the possibility is a nothing burger.

It took just 8 years to go from the Obama admin denying that they spy on our cell phone data to the Biden admin nonchalantly saying they'll fact-check our text messages. But hey, Trump was the Nazi, right?

For the cynical amongst us it's not shocking and scary, it is status quo for the last 18 months or more.

If the government has nothing to hide, why is it hiding so much?

I've been cynical for two and a half decades at least, and with that kind of perspective comes clarity as I've been able to observe the slow creep of infringements using the long view.

It’s an emergency alert system like the one they used in Hawaii when they thought NK was attacking them. Do you get amber alerts? That’s not an agenda, it an emergency alert.

I sincerely don't understand your concerns, based upon your post.. Yes, people have the right NOT to be vaccinated. No one is going door to door, tying people down and forcing the injection upon them. They are making it easier for those who WANT to be vaccinated to get vaccinated.

As for the 'misinformation' part - the OP article clearly states that information is being 'fact checked'. I don't see a problem with that either. If there are outlandish and blatant lies circulating, don't you think they should be pointed out, highlighted or deleted? If people are presenting science and fact based information, they should be allowed to share it - but lies and misinformation is dangerous in any case.

And a vaccine isn’t an “agenda” it’s a public health crisis.

You’re confused. There are no forced vaccinations, so nothing you wrote makes sense. Don’t get it. This is specifically about misinformation

If we think about how instantaneously text messages get received I would say no they don't have the ability to read what is being sent. Or at least not the ability to read and determined if what is being sent should be censored and then decide on whether to censor or let it fly. Especially when we're talking about billions of texts that are being sent on a daily basis in the US.

Why are vaccinated people afraid of people who aren’t?

Computer programs do keyword searches. It's not like they have an Army of spies reading everyone's text messages.

I guess if you call putting a stop to outright lies that could harm the welfare of our country, then yes. Are you a supporter of misinformation campaigns? Are you against our country ensuring that truthful information is shared (both the good and the bad about the vaccines)? People cannot make an informed decision about their health if they don't have the truth - the good and the bad. Once you throw in lies and proven misinformation, they have an even harder time.

If we can eliminate the threat of the variants against vaccinated people, I am all for unmasking. Those who are vaccinated will have nothing to fear and those who are not vaccinated can fend for themselves.

    Sorry.

What a terrifying slippery slope. How would you feel if the fact checkers switched and were now controlled by far right wing extremists flagging any moderate content that they disagree with, preventing it from being distributed.

That's a seriously dangerous proposition, and exactly why we have freedom of speech. THAT INCLUDES speech you don't agree with, speech that is mean, speech that is bigoted, even speech that is false.

Your desire to "protect the welfare" of the country through censorship is terrifying and short sighted.

There is a ton of mis-information, manipulation of information, and flat our lies by the left. I am ok with that, they get to be heard. I would never advocate in favor of censoring their views or speech.

You put a lot of faith in "fact checkers" which are human and not absolute. The "Truth" is subject to bias by both sides. Look how the media said that Trump said people should drink bleach, and the fact checkers affirmed it. Terrifying. That isn't at all what he said, especially not in the context of the discussion.

The rate and disregard at how fast the left wants to take us down a road to fascism is terrifying.

You are having to apply a very black and white conclusion to "facts" to serve your argument.

Some may say that the drugs were not adequately tested to be put in their bodies, and fact checkers will say they were. There are facts, and then there are opinions being presented as fact. Much of what we see is opinions presented as facts.

I do not think they already do.

I also think that "working with SMS carriers" could mean they are going to get them to send out PSA text, not they are going to monitor all 6 billion text sent DAILY.

This seems like a gross invasion of privacy though....I'm not on board with some computer algorithm actively monitoring my text messages and preventing me from sending it if a certain word combo is triggered....

It's 2021, texting is the new standard phone conversation nowadays it's the default way most folks communicate. I wouldn't be comfortable with some passive software that monitored my phone calls and hung up the phone if it heard me say a certain word combo either...

In order to censor them they would have to intercept them midstream and scan them before they went to the target. There are more than 6 billion text sent per day just in the US. If they were to start doing this the slowdown in time received would be noticeable.

You support endangering public health through the spread of misinformation?
We don’t know if censorship is even going to happen. Might just include a BS warning.
