Honestly, almost all veterans have stories of mishap, near death experiences, etc, etc. Talk to guys on a flight deck and they have stories that are hair raising to say the least. Pilots, just landing on the deck can be traumatic, especially in heavy seas at night.

Being shot at by someone trying to kill you, is proably more terrfying than anything. Especially if they get close enough for you to hear the crack of the bullet whizzing passed you.
