DOJ does not have questionable ethics. Congress has had questionable ethics since 1789 and nothing new there. But that wasn't my point.

So... the very foundational concept of balanced power between the exec, legislative, and judicial is meaningless?

OVERSIGHT !!!!! Creat a board, or a committee. We have House and Senate Ethics committees who hold their own accountable

Congress already has power over the Judical branch for impeachment

This isnt some radical ask that hasn't been thought thru already

So are you proposing that the SC just police itself ?

That's a "check" in the whole checks and balances. Just like the judicial has the power to strike down legislation that is not constitutional.

The SC does not work for the legislature nor under their approval.

Then pass a constitutional amendment. That's the ONLY recourse.

    Doesn't the legislature?

I'm proposing there are already processes in place. Amendments and impeachments.

    Use those, dont circumvent them.

    There ya go.

    Checks and balances.

    That's how this system works.

Biden and the left don't get to go around the process because they don't like the outcome.

Should there be a committee within the Judicial Branch that oversees the ethics of the Legislative Branch?

We had very few illegal immigrants until the 1950s or so.

You simply don't realise what Trump is doing to the US. His vile language, rantings, abuse of opposition politicians - often off track - is splitting the US in a way from which it can never recover. A failed friendship because of one persons words can never be completely repaired by even the sincerest apology. What has happened has happened and will always be there in the wronged one's mind. . Trump is ripping the US apart, a situation from which it will never fully recover. Supporters of Trumps actions and attempted revolution, attempted vote rigging etc. are just as to blame.

'The moving finger writes, and having writ moves on. Nor all thy piety or wit can lure it back to cancel half a line, or all thy tears wash out a word of it'.Omar Khyam.

The US cannot afford to be split in such a way. All Trumps promises - if fulfilled - will isolate the US from many nations when solidarity is needed against aggressive nations in this world.

    Good luck

    Trump isn't "splitting the U.S."

The Democrats are splitting the U.S. with their vitriol towards Trump supporters. The Democrats call them unpatriotic, traitors, deplorable, cultists and not just Trump supporters, but anyone who doesn't hate Trump with the appropriate fever.

You want to complain about the name calling and personal attacks, you can start with the Democrats.

That's politics. Harry Reid, a Democrat, blew up the nomination process in Congress and this is the fallout of that.

    No, it's NOT "politics"

Never, in the 250 year history of our country, have we had a Senate Majority Leader flat out refuse to hold confirmation hearings on a nominee for the SCOTUS, BEFORE THE NOMINEE IS EVEN ANNOUNCED.

It was McConnell just flat out refusing Obama a chance to fill a vacancy on the Supreme Court.

It's even worse than that. McConnell lied about the reason he was doing it and McConnell lied about what Biden said in order to justify doing it. The entire fiasco was one lie after another from McConnell.

Then it sounds like you want congressional reform, not SCOTUS reform.

    I want BOTH

I want a Senate that does not give the power to ONE MAN to veto any judicial nominee of the President
I want a Supreme Court that does not turn a blind eye to obvious violations of any standards of ethical behavior. I want a Supreme Court that does not allow ONE MAN (the President) with the backing of his party, to set the ideology of the Supreme Court for GENERATIONS.

I'd also like at least ONE Republican admit that what McConnell did was sleazy and underhanded.

it’s always different when you’re side is doing the same thing the other side did. You made confirming nominees a simple majority then complained when it was used against you too.

just admit you overplayed your hand in 2016 and 2013 and lost the court for the next 20 years son.

im just happy Reid and Biden lived long enough to see it happen

we’re replacing Roberts, Alito, and Thomas with justices who are just as conservative.
