Yep, that's my point. College grads already have an economic edge on none grads, and yet they're kicking in to pay someone else's education - possibly at the cost of sending THEIR kids to college.

 

We need STEM students but 70% of the women entering college want psychology. IMO, mostly for their own needs.
We are losing them to a relatively low paying job force unless they go on to PHD's.

I pay taxes for specific things outlined in law that are for the COMMON GOOD... Defense, Roads, schools for EVERYONE. Forcing taxpayers to pay of the personal debts of others is just theft. What next? Forcing a hard working plumber to pay off the mortgage of someone else? When taxes are used to pay off the personal loans of select individuals rather than benefitting the good for all... it's no longer TAXES... it's THEFT.

 

So find your tax free utopia somewhere else. God speed.

 

Generally, at one time you could get your education paid for by joining the military. That would be a really good idea. For those that want their student loan forgiven or paid for by the government, they should be required to serve in the military proportionally to the size of the loan.

As a side note: At least one of my great grandfathers served in the Civil War. A great uncle served during the Spanish American War. My father served in WWI. One of my brothers and a brother in law and an uncle served in WWII and I served in Vietnam. One of my sons served in Afghanistan and Iraq. Not a single one of them was eaten by Cannibals. I just want to reassure those that serve to pay off their student loans, you are not likely to be eaten by cannibals, if they serve in the military.
