Long gone now, but I had bought some kind of Arkansas stone that was supposed to be the bomb for knife sharpening, flat stone, cedar case. I practiced trying to sharpen a knife on it, but not nearly enough to ever get it down. Met this dude at Ft. Sill from Tennessee. Knoxville. Somehow I still had that stone and even managed to get it to Ft. Sill. Kevin carried a little three blade Old Timer. I can't remember what kinda knife I had. Kevin and his wife Samantha lived next door to me Jim and James off post - invited us over one Turkey Day. Got to talking about knife sharpening and how I had a stone but it didn't work. Kevin said go get it and let me see. Ah, this is a good stone, here, lemme see your knife a sec. Couldn't have even been 120 seconds Kevin put a razor edge on my knife with that flat stone. Eh? Badass or not?

Nope, not me, I use an older version of this:

Here is a picture of the steel chain whip. The fall on the end is made of woven paracord. I need to put another cracker on the very end of it which is made of Mason's twine and occasionally needs replacement as they do on all whips.

The handle alone on that thing would make a good weapon. And it cracks just as loud as any whip which is to say at least about like a 22 going off. The handle is very thick gas pipe and there is a 1-in steel ball welded on the end

There was a problem with the tracking software and the knife wasn't delivered when it said it was a couple days ago, but I got them both today!

I love the Lionsteel B41, is exactly what I was looking for.

As for the Raine, I'm really underwhelmed by it. If I'm going to spend money for a knife I want to be blown away. So I'm going to return it.

    Win some, lose some.

Ah sorry to hear you didn't like the Raine. What was it you didn't like about it if you don't mind me asking?

I'm kind of 'meh' on spending over $100 for a pocket knife....if I'm actually going to use and carry it. I totally get though that some people just love collecting beautiful knives and making them 'safe queens'. I may have one or two of those myself lol.

Knives that I need to depend on for camping and fishing and stuff though I won't hesitate to buy the best. I don't want to be 30 miles up a forest road and break/ruin a blade I need.

One knife I am thinking about spending a lot on though is the new Kershaw OTF....they're just fun to play with.

One of the knives I have that means the most to me is my grandfather's 3 blade Schrade Old Timer with the "Walden NY USA" stamp.

It was made sometime between the late 40's and very early 70's, so not totally sure, but it's pretty dang old.

The blade, while being a drop point recurve, is a little smaller towards the tip, and the CF is too slippery for my taste. It's a great knife but I like my Kratos far better.

The Kershaw Livewire looks really nice. A lot smaller body than the clunky looking microtechs.

Yeah I don't understand CF on a blade handle. Give me burlap or linen micarta any day. G10 is ok too.

The Schrade and Case 3 blades are classic grandpa pocket knives to me too. Actually got to spend a very brief amount of time with my great grandpa on my Mom's side. Granddaddy Joe I called him. Railroad man from South Carolina. Family lore is he was in the KKK, but don't ever tell anyone that, said Mom. Oops. Tall lanky dude married my tiny little great grandma, Momma Nell. Joe was actually Joe, but Momma Nell was that because my grandma's name was Nell, and grandma's name that I called her was Mom Mom. Loved that woman, until I didn't anymore. Last memory of Joe was like something out of a movie. Tiny little apartment with unnecessary lace all over the place with that interesting smell that relatively healthy old humans seem to acquire. On top of a chest-of-drawers was a little box that I was checking out, with a pocket knife in it. My plan to ask Granddaddy Joe if I could have it was thwarted by me Mum. Evil Woman, ha! Kidding, mostly. Poor gal was a bit cray though, hmmm, apple/tree? Anyway, failed to score Joe's pocket knife, but it remains with me anyhow, seemingly, well actually in fact, doesn't it? At the end of that visit I remember Joe asking my Mom to close the screen door, which we couldn't see but Joe did. Mom, said ok, somehow got hold of that invisible screen door, and closed it on the way out. Last time I ever saw old Joe.

Actually I had a 1911 on loan to me. Which is not something I ever do but the circumstances were extreme I guess you could say. Fortunately there was no trouble and no one tried to loot. I would feel better being armed all the time since I'm there for midnight to 6:00 by myself, but I don't except for a good tactical folding knife.

While I have never weighed it, I believe the whip is probably about 3 lb perhaps a bit less

1911 - Noice. I prefer my 92FS, so much ammo in its clip and the Speer Gold Dots, ah, it's like having little solid state warriors ready to get down with the enemy on my behalf.

We do a lot of food prep , so no arguments on knife expenditures or sharpeners. Have a few machetes for yard work, one on the tractor for branches , tho' I got a minichainsaw, battery powered for that too. I have a Toledo Spain made crusaders type sword, my brother gifted it to me after a trip there.
Carry a multitool every day, don't leave home without it, they were Leatherman, but stepson bought a Victorinox for Christmas so I gave him my latest Leatherman. Keep an old bone handle bowie knife in the safe. I have alot of knives , but none as nice as the folders y'all have shown.

Latin, the actual phrase is Mors Vincit Omnia, translates to Death Conquers All.

I replaced the word Death with Tetanus.

The WD40 will probably cut through the cat pee. Be sure to clean out all the WD40 once you get the slide freed up and can take it apart for cleaning. By now you've probably got the slide to move, but if not, try wrapping one of your hands over the top of the slide and gripping it as tightly as you can, and then strike the back of the grip with the other hand, striking it with the part of the hand that is the spot between the thumb and first finger. Do it as hard as you can without knocking the gun out of the hand gripping the slide. That might jar it loose.

    Knives I have ...

    Knives.jpg

    From left to right

Benchmade Pagan. This knife auto-opens straight out, and the blade is double edged. Total impulse buy on my part when I saw it in a sporting goods store. $386.00

Al Mar auto-opening Sert knife. This one was gifted to me from a friend.

Al Mar auto-opening Tanto style blade. I carried this buried down in my ballistic vest for many years before retiring from law enforcement.

The next two Al Mar knives were both gifted to me by friends at different times. I carry the smaller one all the time.

The one on the far right was sent to me by the NRA for renewing my membership. The blade was made in China, lol ...

Very nice, you sure have a thing for Al Mar don't you. Thanks for the run down.

Chinese knives have come a loooong way in quality, several of mine are Chinese. Knowing the NRA though, that is not one of those knives, lol. Very slick nonetheless.

While I would prefer to be armed the government evidently prefers that I am not...
Never mind I have not been in any trouble in almost 20 years but that's another story.

My EDC I carry at work. Not as good as a gun but it beats nothing. It's a $20 cheapie but it has the important characteristics if you were to need it for self-defense. Spring assist opening with a pocket clip.

You can get to it with one hand and open it with one finger.

It has a glass breaker and seatbelt cutter as well.

Same use case here. I’ve found there is an inverse correlation between price paid and length of time before loss when it comes to knives on the farm. The longest I ever kept a knife was about 2 years I think. It was an add on item from Palmetto State Armory when I bought some ammo. Cost me a whole dollar!

Without a knife and pliers nothing gets done. With a knife and pliers, ANYTHING can be accomplished!
