The Hatch Act specifically excluded the President and Vice President. The President and former Presidents frequently endorse candidates. For example, Obama endorsed Hillary Clinton leading up to her failed election. I'm not sure if Congress could even apply it to the President if they tried.

Calls for impeachment from Repubs have become far too frequent. None for cause approximating anything like......

Donald J. Trump has directed the unprecedented, categorical, and indiscriminate defiance of subpoenas issued by the House of Representatives pursuant to its “sole Power of Impeachment”. President Trump has abused the powers of the Presidency in a manner offensive to, and subversive of, the Constitution, in that: The House of Representatives has engaged in an impeachment inquiry focused on President Trump’s corrupt solicitation of the Government of Ukraine to interfere in the 2020 United States Presidential election. As part of this impeachment inquiry, the Committees undertaking the investigation served subpoenas seeking documents and testimony deemed vital to the inquiry from various Executive Branch agencies and offices, and current and former officials. In response, without lawful cause or excuse, President Trump directed Executive Branch agencies, offices, and officials not to comply with those subpoenas. President Trump thus interposed the powers of the Presidency against the lawful subpoenas of the House of Representatives, and assumed to himself functions and judgments necessary to the exercise of the “sole Power of Impeachment” vested by the Constitution in the House of Representatives.

You think Trump shouldn't have to put his assets in a blind trust or otherwise dispose of them?

What I think he "should" do has nothing to do with what she was legally required to do. I didn't vote for Trump for many reasons including I think he's a ****** and I feared he was only running for his ego and the influence being president could have on his role as a businessman. But, why are we talking about Trump? What Trump was not legally required to do has nothing to do with what she was legally required to do.

So? That's obvious. I asked you if you think Presidents should have to put their assets in a blind trust or sell them.

I said she should have proof she arranged for her broker not purchase verboten investments and to divest any that she had.
We can talk about her transgression and the shortcomings of restrictions on other government officials.

What we need is an impeachment inquiry.
You know, where all these questions get answered

Trump gutted the Rule of Ethics - now we get crap on both sides. Hiring his own family for official positions was only the start, so now both sides can
point at the other and claim in school-yard fashion that "they did it first". BOTH parties have become worthless.

Why are you talking about Trump?

Why are you talking about hiring family?

    I'm struggling to understand.

She thought it had been sold apparently. It is why you have to be careful with private-placed stocks. They sometimes can take years to find a buyer for once you decide to sell it. We had a local bank that used to sell all its stocks that way. I heard several people say it took them 4 or 5 years to sell their stock because they had to wait til the bank found buyers for all the people in line in front of you wanting to buy stock before yours would get sold.
