It doesn't change the fact that the trend in closing the wealth gap was blatantly and obviously reversed immediately after delinking the dollar from gold in 1971.

gold salesmen will say and do anything to sell more gold at exorbitant prices

they say the dollar is going to crash, it hasn't

they say the dollar's value is only a few cents, yet they accept dollars in exchange for gold

they say gold is going to keep going up, it hasn't

they say that gold isn't expensive, its price is high because the dollar is losing value, if that were true, big macs would be very expensive too, but they aren't

they say that the economy is going to break down, store shelves are going to be empty and you'll need gold to survive, but it hasn't happened

I am not suggesting anyone buy gold. I think that would be a terrible mistake. Silver should do well... but if I had any money left, I would put it into Singapore money.

If anything it keeps me up at night a bit tragically worried that my kids will not know the America the last 4 generations did. This makes me very sad. Not hysterical, certainly not looking forward to it... but the writing is on the wall. We seriously need to revamp the entire system now if there is any hope of preventing this and retaining our power and influence. I don't see that happening either. You seem to think that trying to spend our way out of unpayable debts and printing more money is going to somehow fix this.

That isn't a disaster. The country crashing and burning is a disaster. The government defaulting us out of credit ratings and the world standard currency... is an American disaster. People will die. I don't want that at all. If they all got impeached I would gladly run to emergency polls and watch their trials on TV.

In my fantasy world the NSA would expose every dirty deal they have done to the American people... and the NSA becomes counter-terrorism/government watchdog... releasing reports to the press on shady deals our representatives are making in our names. I mean... I don't give a (*)(*)(*)(*) if they like to bang hookers... so long as they aren't using tax dollars to pay for it. THAT would be national security. That I would hope for.
