And the 48,000 is just out of those who have been tested. People may have contracted it and haven't been tested.and may have had it and not known. I hear a vaccine got FDA approval for stage one testing. We still haven't has an explosion and I believe and good number of those were in one nursing home in Washington.

If we don't panic....we don't fear. If we don't fear, we don't elect anyone of those Democrats because we have made AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

He walked it back a day later and said that he meant to say that it was the democrats reactions to his yet again "perfect" response was the hoax. When he said it, did he mean the likely spread of corona was a hoax which is what his wording implied, or that the democrats accusations of his response were a hoax? We'll never know. It's another case of brain disconnecting from his mouth and his handlers stepping in.
First of all it, his response, was by no means "perfect". By not being able to accept errors were made he is also declaring that he will not learn from those mistakes and correct them. Americans would be a lot more reassured if he stopped patting himself on the back for his "perfect presidency" and start letting us know that doctors and scientists are leading the way to our protection by patting some of them on the back.
Second, and related to the first, he needs to stop using hoax in his vocabulary. It serves only to impress on his base that everyone but him is evil, they're not, and that he's more concerned with his image that he is with the task at hand. He needs to be reassuring the world that the US has pulled out all the stops and is giving the doctors and scientist all the support that they need and then some.

The virus will spread, that is inevitable. The only way to prevent the spread would be if all people were to start washing their hands every time they touch their faces, go to the bathroom or touch the faces or hands of someone else. Instead of the old "It's 10 o'clock, do you know where your children are?" Radios and TVs should be announcing "It's the top of the hour, when did you last wash your hands?" and again at the bottom of the hour. And for goodness sake stay home if you're sick.

I live somewhere that has had three Ebola outbreaks nearby. As soon as one case is confirmed people immediately stopped shaking hands and bumped elbows instead. Larger compounds like government buildings and schools set up hand washing stations at their entrances. These are things it would be easy for people to do in the US and you'd see a dramatic decrease in the transmission of not only corona virus but a host of others as well.

Trump should be seen on TV washing his hands, announcing that he does so frequently, and refusing handshakes and bump elbows instead. He could be the catalyst for the most immediate solution. Pence needs to be seen and heard asking researchers what do they lack? What can he do? What doors can he open. Not sitting in a prayer group. For most Americans, "thoughts and prayers" has become synonymous to "sit on our hands". That's not what we need. If he thinks prayer will help, fine, do it behind closed doors as Jesus said he should.

No, his response has not been "perfect" that in of itself is a "hoax".

This is what you're referring to and, clearly Trump is referring to politicization of the virus a hoax. No one dropped to that low level when we were addressing H1N1 or Ebola. I guess refraining from doing a happy dance when Americans contract diseases on the opposing party's watch is a matter of integrity.

Democratic candidates hit Trump's coronavirus 'hoax' claim
Joe Biden called Trump's claim that the coronavirus is the Democrats' "new hoax," "bizarre," and "absolutely dangerous."
By Dareh Gregorian Feb 29, 2020
Democratic presidential candidates on Saturday ripped Donald Trump's claim that the coronavirus is the Democrats' "new hoax," calling the charge "dangerous" and "disturbing" — while Trump complained again they are making political hay of the outbreak.

Trump made the assertion during a rally in South Carolina Friday night, where he told the crowd Democrats have been "politicizing" the outbreak. He said he'd already endured Russia and the "impeachment hoax."

"This is their new hoax," Trump continued, before assuring rallygoers that his administration is on top of the issue.

"But you know we did something that's pretty amazing — we're 15 people in the massive country because of the fact that we went early we could have had a lot more than that. We're doing great. Our country is doing great," he said, referring to what was then the number of known cases in the United States.

Here is the Democrat response to Trump's preemptive ban on travel to and from China to prevent the spread of the disease. Trump took action to prevent a pandemic in the US and Democrats attack him for protecting Americans. Who understated the risk?

He is banning travel from countries without corona. There are 3 cases on the entire continent of Africa and 5 south of the Texas border all the way to Antarctica. (Yesterday's numbers). He might as well say now's my chance to keep blacks and browns out of my white country by pretending it's to protect from corona virus. If anything those countries should be banning travel from the US. And you accuse others of playing politics with this? He is a shameful excuse for a human being and you trust him.

    You're not even credible
Trump bans foreign nationals who have traveled to China from entering the US
    There’s a mandatory quarantine, too

By Nicole Wetsman Jan 31, 2020,

Any foreign national who has traveled within China in the last 14 days will not be allowed to enter the United States, according to a proclamation from President Trump. The action is to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, said US Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar. Azar also said that he was declaring a public health emergency in the US.

The new coronavirus has sickened nearly 10,000 people worldwide in nearly two dozen countries, and it has killed 213 people in China.

Any US citizen who has traveled in China will undergo health screening upon entry into the country and will be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days. US citizens who have traveled to Hubei province, where the virus originated, will be held under mandatory quarantine for 14 days after they return to the US. Based on the latest available data, 14 days is the longest estimate of the time it takes for people to develop symptoms after they’re infected with the virus. It is still not clear how easily the virus can spread from one person to the next, although preliminary data suggests that people who do not have symptoms can still infect others.

All incoming flights from China will be restricted to seven airports to consolidate passenger screening and evaluation: John F. Kennedy International Airport, Chicago O’Hare International Airport, San Francisco International Airport, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu.

The new policies contradict advice from the World Health Organization
The policies will take effect Sunday, February 2nd at 5PM ET.

Trump is panicking - not because people are dying, but because the nation’s GDP growth may end up being in negative numbers for the year which hurts his re-election chances. Trump only cares about Trump. It’s part of his disease.

If Trump was going to downplay the Coronavirus as a hoax, he wouldn't be imposing travel bans. English is not a difficult language.

    Never mind.

The Trump-haters are so nuts, I would not put it past one of them to come down with the flu, and purposely go to a crowded place and try to spread the virus, for no other reason than they think it would make Trump look bad.

The truth is, no president can do anything to stop a virus like this. The folks at the CDC, NIH, HHS, and private health care agencies will be the people to develop the vaccine, or provide suggestions on how to limit exposure to the virus. All a president can do is listen to the health care experts, and agree to take actions where his authorization is required.

If Trump was unconcerned as you claim, he would not have halted foreign nationals who have traveled to China from entering the US.

You keep talking like you do, and people will see what a shallow thinker you are becoming.

This is how democrats operate. She knows it isn't true but knows most of her followers will blindly believe it.
Fake news CNN uses this tactic as well. I wish the republicans didn't have such high morals and played dirty once in a while.

What nonsense. Trump did call it a hoax. For example:

"Think of it. And this is their new hoax. But we did something that’s been pretty amazing. We have 15 people in this massive country and because of the fact that we went early. We went early, we could have had a lot more than that. We’re doing great"
    (February 28. Charleston North Carolina)
When will you guys ever learn! When the matter becomes a "He said - she said - Trump said".... Trump is always the one who is lying to you. And whenever you read "Breitbart" anywhere near any such claim... you actually don't even need to go much further.

Only lemmings would need more than that.
