He nailed it!!! Nothing fancy, no hyperbole. FACT!

MSNBC host Chris Matthews tore into former President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney on Friday, accusing them of putting Iraq on the road toward its current crisis by invading the country in 2003.

“We were united after 9/11. They were the ones who divided us,” Matthews said. “They were the ones who divided Iraq into the two warring factions we see today battling for control of Baghdad. They were the ones who went into Iraq and took apart the Iraqi army, the Iraqi government, the Iraqi establishment, and replaced it with a sectarian bunch primarily interested in getting even with their fellow Iraqis.”

The current Shia regime, Matthews said earlier on his show, was on the verge of being overrun completely by the Sunni insurgent group calling itself the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), which has taken over several large cities and has announced its intentions to advance upon the capital, Baghdad. Matthews described this recent wave of violence as the latest episode in years of strife.

LOST! Not too long after Mission ACCOMPLISHED (or to use the RW meme, after "MAJOR COMBAT OPERATIONS ARE OVER" once Iraq turned in carnage, chaos, and our kids were turned into IRAQI road kill)...

Bush was criticized for the historic jet landing on the carrier as an overly theatrical and expensive stunt. For instance, it was pointed out that the carrier was well within range of Bush's helicopter, and that a jet landing was not needed.[5] Originally the White House had stated that the carrier was too far off the California coast for a helicopter landing and a jet would be needed to reach it. On the day of the speech, the Lincoln was only 30 miles (48 km) from shore but the administration still decided to go ahead with the jet landing. White House spokesman Ari Fleischer admitted that Bush "could have helicoptered, but the plan was already in place

Well, duh..... yes, Obama has been the prez for the past 5 1/2 YRS, but according to you and yours, that's beside the point..... it's just so much easier to blame Bush for Obama's failures.......

Sounds like it's not only Matthews leg that gets all tingly when Obama speaks.......

This is all too easy. People having Obamagasms are not to be taken seriously. They have already lost all credibility. They do not matter anymore. We know that they have a man crush on the current incompetent boob in the White House and are incapable of seeing Obama can do any wrong. So basically this thread is that somebody with no credibility has an opinion. Shall we file this under "Meh".

If we withdrew our troops from South Korea, and the inevitable North Korean invasion of the South happened within a month, would Matthews be blaming Truman for the outcome?

Guys, we got about 30,000 troops in South Korea. Are you saying that the withdrawal of those troops has something to do with Truman and the reasons the war started? What difference does it make on how the Korean War started? The consequences of withdrawal are clear. Just as they were in Iraq.

Well, gee..... let's put it this way.

A large corporation is crumbling b/c of an incompetent CEO, so he's fired and a new CEO is hired, claiming he has the experience, education and knowledge of fixing the problems. He applied for the job and he got it......

Over 5 yrs later, the corporation is in even worst shape and the CEO is whining 'it ain't MY fault! I had inherited a mess!"......

    Got the pix? Probably not......

If they keep this up, the history books are going to show Bush 43's term from 2000-2016.

No the demands of the office include not taking a bad situation and letting it turn into a disaster. If he couldn't handle it he shouldn't have taken the job. If only he put as much effort into foreign policy as he did his golf right?
Also, to remind you Bush didn't go to war by himself, without the democrat votes there would have been no war.

How odd that the right wants to blame obama for what is happening in Iraq.

Seems they want to forget that it was Malaki's government that refused to give US troops and their merc.."contractors" immunity from prosecution and that was simply unacceptable to every american regardless of partisanship.

They forget that the first agreement was signed by Bush before he left office.

they forget that Mallaki was elected BEFORE bush left office.

they forget that Mallaki was held in check until the US left and THEN he began a sectarian campaign against the sunnis, including replacing competent sunni military leaders with incompetent shi'a cronies since wanted a military that wouldn't stage a coup against him.

they forget that sectarian emnity has been going on since DAY1 in the Islamic world.

they forget the complete clustermuk of the post invasions decisions made that essentially destroyed every government institution EXCEPT the ministry of oil.

they forget the war was supposed to be a short one.

they forget the war was going to be paid for by Iraqi oil.

they forget the unbelievable manipulation of intelligence where the administration LIED to the world.

Nope, all that is irrelevant since Obama is president and while the partisans pull out incredibly stupid corporate analogies which obviously apply in the conservative chickenhawk world, but sure as hell don't in the real world where real wars cost BLOOD.

The rise of Al-Qaeda-linked militants in Iraq can be traced to America's invasion of the country more than a decade ago, as it left a power vacuum and unleashed sectarian bloodletting, experts said Friday.

With television footage of Sunni extremists sweeping across Iraq this week, critics of former president George W. Bush's decision to invade in 2003 said the onslaught offered yet more proof of the war's disastrous fallout.

Neoconservatives who backed Bush's decision touted the war as a way to build a model for democracy in the Middle East. Instead, it has fueled an explosive Sunni-Shiite divide that is still sending shockwaves through the region, experts said.

For University of Michigan history professor Juan Cole, events in Iraq are "an indictment of the George W. Bush administration, which falsely said it was going into Iraq because of a connection between Al-Qaeda and Baghdad." http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/06/...sion-spawned-current-crisis-in-iraq-analysts/
