If the pervs really wanted to show how edgy & provocative they are, they'd mock the Prophet Muhammad (Propeller Beanie Upon Him).

 

I saw this earlier and thought the same thing about Muslims. The left never ridicules or insults Islam because if they do it once it's pretty assured they'll never do it again, the left only goes after tolerant groups they know won't fight back.

These weirdos mock a religion and if anyone anywhere says something, these weirdos would say 'don't judge me you racist slob.'

 

Charlie Hebdo did and they are not exactly left-wing. But that magazine makes fun of everyone and everything, including the Catholic Chuch, which about 70% of the French Population adheres to.

But the point was to express artistic expression without consequences in their version of freedom of speech. It was an interesting opening ceremony, especially with mixing Classical with Heavy Metal, the parody of the Last Supper, etc. It was classic French style where anything and everything is not off limits to be made fun of.

To me, it was unusual and yet entertaining. The best part was Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, the lighting of the Calderon, the use of boats taking the athletes down the Saine River, and that mysterious runner with the torch going through Paris, mostly on rooftops. I would not call it the best opening ceremony, but it wil be remembered for a long time.

 

Yeah, Charlie Hebdo had some fun and then paid the price. Has anyone in France made Muslim jokes since then?

 

They mock Christianity because mocking Islam is clearly hazardous to your health.

Just keep importing Muslims to France and don't worry about it

I'm not sure why the objectors are calling it a mockery of Christianity. I didn't watch the ceremony, but based on the reporting and pictures, it seems to me to be representing a very Christian message of peace and love between the wide diversity of humanity. The objections seem to imply that The Last Supper is only for white (ironically), cis men, which I'd suggest could be seen as much a mockery of the message of Christianity.

As for being suitable for the whole family, maybe they would have preferred a dying torture victim, stripped mostly naked and nailed to a cross by his hands and feet?

 

Purported to be is strangely fuzzy but he obviously would have been Middle Eastern. He was also an unmarried man, who hung around other men and liked to bless the little children by "laying on hands".

For reference, that was mockery of Christianity.

So a bunch of French people paid tribute to a Renaissance Italian painting of an event that may never have happened and certainly looked nothing like the painting.

That interpretation of Christianity is very much out of fashion with some folk....if they ever believed it. Their version is basically an excuse to judge & hate. To be fair, that is very much in keeping with a LOT of the history of Christianity.
