Exactly. It is theoretically possible to do it but it would take something along the lines of retreating civilization as a whole back to the pre industrial revolution. Human beings are "capable" of doing that but we won't do that and no amount of global warming "we're all gonna die by 2050" is going to convince people to do that. Outside of mind control effectively combating climate change is impossible.

But the discussion here is it is already too late, there is no solution.

History is littered with vanished civilizations due to climate change. Our civilization is going to disappear sooner or later.

combating climate change is impossible because the manufacturing industry was replaced by the energy industry.

globalism is also the best military strategy and in the interest of America.

Some say the world will end in fire,
    Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
    Is also great
    And would suffice.

Did you actually read my post or did you skim through it quickly and miss the overall point of it? You're saying the same things I said....

I too said that global warming is a natural occurrence and that humans are merely helping speed up the process to a more unnatural rate. Which is one of the more widely accepted theories of this. How much we are actually contributing is debatable. Either way even if humans all vanished tomorrow the Earth would still go through it's natural warming and cooling cycles but it would likely slow down the warming process right now.

I didn't demand for the global collapse of modern civilization, I said that its what it would actually take to effectively combat this if we really wanted to. Climate change alarmists in general don't like to mention that part because it's widely unpopular and insane. I said I respect AOC (for this only I loathe that vile woman) for the mere fact that she and her cohorts are willing to openly say that. Well get closer to saying it than anybody else wants to. She won't openly say that we must collapse the world economy and modern civilization but she's willing to push for a bill that would do just that. Few others in politics are willing to say something as ridiculous as that because it's basically political suicide.

I think you need to go back and reread my post in it's entirety. I believe you've misunderstood what I said pretty significantly. I'll summarize it because I know it was a long post.

Nothing beyond feel good measures will combat climate change. Drinking Starbucks out of paper straws isn't helping. Picking up trash in your neighborhood isn't helping. Eating meat on weekends only isn't helping. If humanity itself genuinely wants to combat climate change then we have to collapse our modern world, period. There is no meet in the middle and I know it sounds good to say but "every little bit helps" doesn't work in this scenario. As I said, climate change alarmists have this distorted belief that we'll just all have to change a little bit and all will be ok. They claim people are just spoiled and greedy and don't want to give up burgers for a few days a week or carpool to work sometimes. As if that is the only change that people will see in their lives.

What THEY don't understand, but people like me understand, is the fact that the only solution is to destroy the modern world in its entirety.

Progressives like to paint Conservatives as evil vile human beings who are so selfish that they'll kill the entire world and ruin it for our children out of greed for money because they won't even give up burgers to save the planet. Or say they are idiots who don't believe what scientists are saying. Neither of which are true overall. The truth is more of the fact that people understand how the real world actually works and that if what scientists are saying is true then the only solution is to collapse the modern world overnight. And even if we did that the planet would STILL change, just at a slower pace.

Pick one. Give up the modern society and all that comes with it to help save the planet or continue on as is and do what we can but accept the fact that the planet is going to drastically change for the worse. The latter is the only reasonable solution because at the end of the day those are the ONLY two choices we have. People who support the former are fine, but put your money where your mouth is, if you're a climate change warrior and you so much as turn on your A/C because it's hot then you're a hypocrite.

Give it up, modern civilization is not going to collapse itself on purpose to save the Earth. It won't, period. We can discuss morality all we want but it's not going to happen. So, as I said, don't just throw your hands up and start dumping motor oil in the local river because we're all screwed, but accept the fact that there is nothing you can do about it.

What civilizations have vanished due to climate change in the last ~ 1000 years.

Why are you limiting it to 1000 years?

It's impossible because our modern way of life and standard of living is the result of negative environmental impacts. There's this misconception by many people that we can somehow still live like this without actually hurting the Earth. I have a great friend who lives in a cabin in the woods without running water and literally hunts for all of her meat and grows her own produce. Hell she even makes her own moccasins out of animal hides it's pretty cool. She uses a generator for power with some solar panels and stuff to offset it or something (not entirely sure) but she does have power. She's not poor or anything that's just the lifestyle she loves.

If she decided to complain about climate change (she doesn't) then her opinion would be valid. Those who sit in air conditioned Starbucks with their Save the Earth t-shirts and paper straws and complaining on the internet are hypocrites.

We will have a pandemic before you ever see any affect of climate change. Pandemics are not caused by climate change.

    No, it isn't obvious.

My best guess is you are playing silly games for reasons best known to yourself.

So no answer. Obviously civilizations from the last 1000 years have access to superior technology among them less susceptible to cyclic regional climate change.

Oops, I quoted from his book "Climate Present, Past and Future"

Your guy knew and stated that human activity would change Earth's climate due to CO2 emissions and that the effect would last for centuries until we actually stop using fossil fuel - which he guessed would be when we finally run out!

In the ancient past when climate changed people moved to where they could live, leaving areas that didn't provide sufficient food and water or became inundated by sea.

    Today, that option isn't available.

Yeah a few civilizations did vanish due to the effects of a changing environment that they couldn't cope with but the vast majority of "modern" civilizations (last 2-3000 years or so) collapsed due to things unrelated to a changing planet.

Even if these civilizations did collapse due to climate change modern civilization has one huge advantage over past ones, technology.

Modern industrialized civilization has the ability to protect itself from the effects of climate change. Even little things we take for granted like being able to turn on the A/C during the current heat wave are things that help us that our ancestors didn't have. Humanity will survive, even modern civilization will survive and it'll still be here in the years to come.

A much more reasonable argument would be at what cost would it take to keep modern civilization alive. That's a viable debate because at the end of the day we will eventually have to figure something out. The very thing that allows us to survive a changing planet is the same thing that is helping cause a changing planet, technology. And technology that requires MASSIVE amounts of resources. Even if humans stripped the entire Amazon rainforest down we'd still survive and no our children wouldn't choke to death due to lack of oxygen.

Humans will be alright for generations to come. Nature might not be but we'll still be around. The whole "we're all gonna choke and die by 2100" thing is an alarmist tactic used to push for change for moral reasons. Yeah it IS messed up that humans are seemingly nonchalantly destroying the Amazon and killing off great reefs and dumping our trash in the ocean but that's not going to kill our species off...We'd be living in a pretty crappy planet but we'd still be living here. The Earth isn't going to magically turn into Venus overnight and fry us all if we don't cut it out...

Yes. People movement is not appreciated by any country likely to receive an influx of any size at all.

Does America like that idea? Our xenophobia is on display today.

How well did countries handle the few who needed to flee Syria?

Today, India has built a major wall against Bangladesh, where people are trying to escape due to hunger.

Humans don't accept people movement of any size.

Also, we've seen the impact of failed states. States fail when they can not produce enough food for their own people.

So you accept Lamb’s conclusions that the Medieval and Roman Warm Periods were global.

That’ not what he says in the Conclusions section of his 1995 book. He predicts a continuing northern hemisphere cooling, atmospheric warming due to CO2, and a progression toward the next ice within ~ 2000 years with cooling shocks as part of this process.
