I think here is the place where I could find an answer to my question. When asking about Advent Crowns, some did not even know what it is. On the other hand, some were very strict about the colours of its candles. They had to be like this, they said: purple, purple, pink, purple. What do do know about the Advent Crown? There this crown is mentioned specially: http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/advent-time.594418/ <<<<<
Here are pictures of the "Adventskranz", as the Advent Crown is called in German: https://www.google.com/search?q=Adv...CAbsQ_AUoAnoECAIQBA&biw=1536&bih=746&dpr=1.25 Here you can see all kinds of candle colours.
Some more info about the Advent Crown: More: https://www.german-way.com/history-and-culture/holidays-and-celebrations/christmas/advent/ I would contradict in one point: You do not have to be a "traditional family" to have an Advent Crown in Germany. Or do you have to be "traditional" in the UK and the US to have a Christmas tree or a Christmas calendar?
And every German knows this verse: Advent, Advent, ein Lichtlein brennt. Erst eins, dann zwei, dann drei, dann vier, dann steht das Christkind vor der Tür. In English: Advent, Advent, A little candle burns. First one, then two, then three, then four, then the Christ Child stands at the door.
Advent Calendars (December) are popular with young children, the paper ones made in Germany are the most beautiful. People make them out of fabric and put a little something in each door. Here in the US if you celebrate Christmas most people have a tree, could be a fresh pine big or small or an artificial tree. Wreaths are very popular, again, fresh greens, vines, berries, dried fruits, artifical decorations and usually a bow made of ribbon. Lights inside and outside one's residence and Christmas characters on one's lawn, usually plastic blow up (yuck) santas, reindeers etc. Thank you, I never knew about the Advent Crown.
You are welcome! As a child I was very impressed by those crowns. And I still am - as they bring back memories.
