I have given students 0s and other failing grades for that answer. Because these are the sources the Political Science field use. They are incredibly reputable sources. I don't have to develop my own argument. I can just let them do it for me. Why reinvent the wheel when I can say "hey someone already did it much better than I can" and cite them. I am not surprised a teacher would fail a student for beating them in intellectual debate. The sources you use are arbitrary and your entire position is based on a fallacious appeal to authority instead of critical thinking. They are not reputable. You dont develop your own argument because you choose to simply follow what you are told and not think critically, and thats just fine.

However, it leads to moments like this where you are proven wrong and it makes you uncomfortable. That is not my fault however, and is the shortcoming provided by simply looking to others for your argument.
