Yes, I've wondered about that, too.

The one technical analysis I read said that it's more likely that humidity would help - not heat. The point being that particles in the air would tend to be larger and would thus fall out of the air sooner.

And, we're almost all air conditioned - so it's cool and fairlly dry even in places where it isn't like that outside.

    And went further into debt.
    And killed brain cells.
    And got criminal records.
    And got STDs.
    And got unintentionally pregnant.

    What's ur point, exactly?

No one goes on spring break to be socially responsible. These are barely adults we're talking about.

They "got the message" but they didn't care. It was pure selfishness, not an issue of unawareness. They literally interviewed kids saying things like "if I get it, I get it, so what." They knew the risk of catching and spreading coronavirus and they didn't care. You can try all you want to blame Trump or make it partisan, but you'll fail. The invincibility and selfishness of youth is not the fault of Trump, Rush, or anyone else.

The only way to have consistenct messaging is for the left and the mainstream media to quit fighting everything Trump, Pence, or Fauci says.

Why are the lockdown measures in countries like Italy so slow to take effect? People are practicing social distancing and wearing face masks etc., but the cases are still rising.

They arent social distancing at home. And at home in Italy theres 3 or 4 generations all living in one house. If one gets it, a dozen or more get it regardless of quarantine.

It is possible to further self-isolate within a family home. People in the UK do it and they have a dedicated room only they can use and food is left at the door, etc.

The incubation period, and I think it takes a little time for people to realize just how strictly they need to limit contact.

Take a look at the following, and use the logarithmic view on deaths. It looks to me like Italy's curve started tipping over on May 12th, but with that incubation period and exponential growth, the 14 day build that continues even after you start doing the right thing, is simply horrendous.

As I have already pointed out, the incubation period is NOT 14 days. It is UP TO 14 days, but anything from 2 days to 14 days.

The countries that went into lockdown were already on an exponential curve as far as new test positives were concerned. However because the incubation period is 2 to 14 days, you would expect to see that same curve beginning to level off after just a few days and levelling off even further after 5 to 6 days, etc., up to 14 days where it should have flattened significantly.

Your sanctimony reflects on you only, no one else.
    • 2-14 days represents the current official estimated range for the novel coronavirus COVID-19.
    • However, a case with an incubation period of 27 days has been reported by Hubei Province local government on Feb. 22
    • In addition, a case with an incubation period of 19 days was observed in a JAMA study of 5 cases published on Feb. 21.
    • Mean incubation period observed:
    • 3.0 days (0 - 24 days range, study based on 1,324 cases)
    • 5.2 days (4.1 - 7.0 days range, based on 425 cases).
    • Mean incubation period observed in travelers from Wuhan:
      6.4 days
(range from 2.1 to 11.1 days).
14 days is a sensible benchmark. Nobody claimed it was perfect,
You apparently have completely lost your way in this discussion. You asked the following:
And I gave you the correct answer.

Obviously, the point is that a significant number of citizens are willing to risk other people's lives for fun and games.

And, a contributing factor is the degree to which leadership has FAILED to emphasize the importance of social distancing measures that have been put in place.

    This is nonsense.

First of all, both the state and the individuals did not get the message. And, a clear factor in that is that federal, state and local messaging has NOT emphasized the importance of NOT doing this.

And, there has been strong messaging that COVID is not to be worried about - with NO opposition. Fox fired Trish Reagan with the only possible reason being her absolutely false and totally political broadcast time - but, Fox wouldn't even confirm that her false messages were the issue!!

Selecting a person to interview can not possibly be an excuse. NO analysis can be based on a flip response from one individual.

I think you're overestimating how much 'leadership' is actually valued.

A lot of people still really don't like being told what to do.

True. But I don't see that an excuse when adequate leadership isn't provided.

Here's a site with a beach picture during spring break.

The line of people beyond the empty beach (with people on the beaches beyond) is the county line. The closed beach is empty, because county government showed leadership.

    Leadership DOES work!

    https://fox40.com/news/jarring-phot...osed-florida-beach-amid-coronavirus-pandemic/

Here's a link showing where one beach full of spring break partier's phones went when they left the beach.

It includes a video of how cell phones were tracked from one reasonably small beach.

    https://www.commondreams.org/news/2...-where-florida-springbreakers-and-new-yorkers

It doesn't show on this map (perhaps because not many came this far), but some dork from the local university here in Seattle went on spring break and came back with COVID.

Please don't call me sanctimonious. I'm probably a lot less sanctimonious than the average television expert.

In the UK it is advised that you should self-isolate for 14 days if another member of your household has symptoms of COVID-19. The figure of 14 days presumably comes from the maximum incubation time of the virus.

Don't assume because you are uninformed that a) the information isn't readily available, and b) everyone else is as uninformed as you are.

You need new sources of news if you have failed to notice how much attention coronavirus has gotten. I don't see how anyone could be unaware of social distancing etc. Just because your news sources are clearly lacking and you yourself may be uninformed, is not the fault of the administration or anyone else. The information is out there. For there to be any truth to your claims, you would have to live under a rock.

    WHAT message??

You want to blame it on partiers you think weren't responsible???

Not even all Republican GOVERNORS have gotten the messate!

Do NOT tell me the kids are to blame when the governors condone the SAME behavior.

    YOU are the one uninformed.

I wasn't commenting on "attention". Read my post. I'm talking about clear and consistent policy being adequately communicated.

    We do NOT have that.

FL's governor STILL isn't closing its beaches to partiers!!

And, that isn't the only state that has a governor that is giving no direction.

So, STOP blaming citizens. The problem is the LEADERSHIP.

And, if YOU kept up you would know that.

Calm down and act rationally, or you're going to find yourself arguing with yourself.

Yes, I think spring breakers are responsible for their own actions. So YES the kids ARE to blame for THEIR BEHAVIOR. (Do you understand it better that way with lots of capitalization?)

Again, your ignorance is yours alone. We are literally being flooded with information about the coronavirus, Trump's press briefings have been very good, and if all else fails you can go to cdc.gov literally any time for the latest information. The information is out there. How you've missed it, I can't even imagine.

People need to take responsibility for their own actions. Or do you want martial law to force the ignorant and irresponsible to follow the guidelines which everyone in America should already be 100% aware of?

Personal responsibility ---- it's not just for Republicans and Independents, you know ;)

You can't put an old head on young shoulders. Unfortunately this is a tendency with youth will likely cause real harm.

AS SAM JACKSON SAYS, “STAY THE F*** AT HOME”: How a bridge tournament led to 4 coronavirus deaths in El Paso County and exposed hundreds to COVID-19. “El Paso County is home to the country’s sixth-highest case fatality rate from the coronavirus.”

It's a function of the incubation period and just how completely they isolate. The virus doesn't grade on the curve. You can be isolating much more than your normal life. A good bench mark is: "Are you still getting seasonal flu?" If you are, you are flunking the practice test.

In CA, COVID hospitalizations are BELOW expectations and unsurprisingly, so are flu hospitalizations. The 6 Bay Area Counties went S-I-P 15 days ago and statewide 10 days ago. Do it right and it works.

Failure to can have serious consequence:

DUMB: 28 University of Texas Spring Breakers Who Flouted Health Advice Are Now Sick With Coronavirus.

“About 70 students from the University of Texas at Austin, all in their 20s, chartered a plane to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in late March. They took the trip despite public health advice to avoid crowding as well as nonessential air travel. On Tuesday, Austin public health officials announced that 28 students, more than a third of the young people who took the trip, had returned and tested positive for the coronavirus. Many of the remaining students are under public health monitoring.”

Everybody is responsible for what they do. That's not what I'm saying.

We act on the information we have, and when elected officials fail to convey the methds and importance of a response, THAT means something.

Having the president, governors, mayors, etc. give directin has made a huge difference in how people respond.

When they fail, when they state it isn't important, blaming people for believing these officials is just plain stupid.

Let's remember Trump indicated that we could open the economy to have crowded churches by Easter - when experts on his own team said that was absolute crap.

If Trump had wanted to save lives, shorten the pandemic, etc., he would have been making stay at home orders and convincing the holdout Republican governors, and taking direct action on others proclaiming nonsense to those who liseten.

Because woke virtue signalling was more important to the Italians at the onset of the virus than precaution apparently.

Italy launched “hug a Chinese” campaign to fight coronavirus ...
    in.news.yahoo.com › italy-launched-hug-chinese-campaign-065339340

3 days ago - Italian netizens responded by posting several pictures of themselves hugging Chinese people in order to eradicate discrimination and racism ...

And Starbucks stopped with the reusable cups, and San Fran just banned reusable shopping bags.

I hope it's finally sinking in that all this green hippie virtue signalling crap will be the death of us, but I seriously doubt it. I'm sure the wokesters will go right back to their lunacy as soon as the coast is clear.

I hardly think those spring break kids were ignoring warnings because they are fanatical Republicans who believe the whole thing is a plot against President Trump.
