Police say 10 people were killed in a shooting at a Boulder, Colorado, grocery store

    https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...o-grocery-store-n1261771?cid=eml_nbn_20210322

Shooting violence is part of this country's DNA. The regular occurrence of the shootings has become common place......
There is no vested interest in making the kind of cultural change that might be necessary.

So the pattern of: Shootings........ genera l out cry of 'horror" , lots of words , " thoughts and "prayers".......... funerals, broken families.......... and then repeat.

I think you'll find that lots of people here want to offer ways they believe shootings could be reduced.

They just don't agree with one another.

I think an obvious place to start would be to look at countries who have less shootings than we do and work out what they are doing differently.

True ........ the sad thing is that they don't even try to find a compromise .......(It is like compromise is some kind of swear word)

If everyone had a gun it never would have happened? I know for sure that if no one had a gun it never would have happened.

Now there is a hot button issue........ the whole GUN thing. Guns and gun ownership are now embedded in thee American psyche There are many who would never give up their weapons.

"Giving up their weapons" if the law requires it is the law-abiding thing to do. People who disobey the law are criminals and in that case, their weapons would have to be confiscated.

Not that easy in the US. There might be revolt rather than give up their guns. Has to do with "right to bear arms "......which makes it rather complicated. There is a different mindset from places like Sweden ;-) etc.

Not so difficult. Remove the "right to bear arms" and you're half-way to solving the problem.

Not every problem has a solution. Sometimes the "medicine" can be worse than the original disease.

A lot of people think that government can and should solve every problem. But that can lead down a dark road.

As they say, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."

I'll also point out that this happened in Colorado, and if you decided to put it to a vote in that state, I doubt you would get anything passed.

That state still has a little bit of the Wild West mentality.

Making murder illegal isn't "medicine" worse than homicide itself.

Not every problem has to be solved.

I will point out there is no solution that would completely end this problem that would still be acceptable.

No excuse. Sweden was once a Viking society but it's tame and civilized now.

What is your idea of "solved"? Elimination or reduction?

Haven't we already worked on reduction in the past?

Everyone should notice a pattern. Tragic incident, compromise, tragic incident, compromise, tragic incident, compromise.

All of these compromises have not put an end to these incidents. So if you want to continue to compromise, there is only one place where it will inevitably lead to.

The ultimate solution is living under a Soviet-style police state.

If you don't like the culture of America, go move to Canada or England.

Nigeria or South Africa are two more English-speaking places with warm climates, if you don't mind a little "diversity".

How is this not liking America?? America is not perfect. Far from it. We need to be realistic if we are going to improve the country........ Shooting violence is a big problem.

There is no path to a workable solution because folks don't want a solution. So the y just live with this pattern of violence ..

    I don't think so, no.

    What compromise?

What compromise? What inevitable place is that?

Population of roughly 360 million. How many annual deaths from gun homicides?

I know for sure if no one had toothpaste, no teeth would be brushed.

I see. So you think cleaning your teeth is equivalent to murder and both are equally beneficial. BTW: toothpaste is not a prerequisite to brushing.
