I think this is a complicated issue. Whistleblowers have helped both the Left and the Right. Where is the line between the public's right to know and secrets the government should keep:
l "we have a secret foreign policy, which has been very successfully kept secret and essentially mythical,” the mainstream media is “complicit” in allowing the government to keep secrets it has no right to withhold; and that any notion Americans are ever the “good guys” abroad “has always been false.” “Democrats in this area are as shameless as Republicans,” he says. “Our elections in the realm of foreign policy and defense policy and arms sales, I have come to understand, are essentially between people vying to be manager of the empire.” an american hero, semper fidelis.
What Ellsberg revealed completely corroborated what I had learned during my time in Vietnam. Given all we know today, I do not understand how anybody can believe a single word coming from the Pentagon.
He can sound high minded about “empires” but the fact is it’s the American, Chinese or the Russian or Iranian want to be empires that will be in charge. Given that choice, I’ll take the American one.
