What is appropriate is to assess a threat and react in an appropriate manner. On the street people are often verbally "interviewed" before the violence starts. I have not lived in a liberal urban area for a long time. But an incident comes to mind. About fifty years ago I had three males approach me in an aggressive manner. The one in the lead got within about 2 feet of me and said, "hey hippy ******." My reaction? I punched him in the face. He lost interest in me as did his two buddies. Does that example answer your question about reacting to a verbal threat. How would you have addressed this incident?

Another incident comes to mind. I once lived in Back Bay Boston. A crazy individual lived nearby who would threaten to kill people. My reaction to him was to cross the street if I saw him out and about. He was certainly dangerous and did end up attacking a victim with a hatchet after making a racial slur about white people.

So again, all situations are different and cannot be addressed with some liberal BS social theories or one size fits all BS such as you probably learned in law school.

Your not being able to grasp what the jury did is typical of many of your posts here.

The judge in this case demonstrated his desire for a conviction when he dismissed one count after the jury couldn't reach a verdict. It seems to me that forced the jury to acquit straight up. Honest men and women on that jury who told Bragg and the judge to go to hell.

It's too sophisticated for you to grasp old buddy. The jury said they could not reach a verdict. Everybody including the judge knew the manslaughter charge was specious. The judge dropped it hoping that the jury would convict on a lesser charge.

If the judge had been honest he would have dismissed the entire frivolous case. The jury did it for him, thankfully.

It's just that made-up stories sound so.........made up, or someone high in crack trying to explain his hallucinations.

It's just 50 years of following various trials, mostly in the media but some in person. Common sense and pattern recognition PLF, you should try it sometime.

No I am not confused one little bit. The Jury found there was no intent to kill. All I am saying is that Penny is a trained killer, a fit, strapping young man who attacked a nut case from behind, took him down, and nut case perished.

We should make monuments out of him!

We could tear down all the stupid George Floyd monuments and replace them with a person who dared to PROTECT society instead of terrorize it.

and I am glad Penny took him down-the mope died because of his drug abuse

why so invested in the life of a felon who was a complete waste? If he was white, I suspect you wouldn't be complaining

I was commenting before I knew what 'colour' he was. I am uninterested in that crap.

My only investment in this matter is the curiosity of attempting to lionise Penny as any sort of hero when I certainly do not regard him as anything like that. What on Earth is heroic about a tall, fit, strapping, trained killer taking down a drug addled looney, mouthy muppet from behind?

Maybe I have ESP (I don't think I do), but one can gain insight into a person's thoughts and motives by observing and analyzing his actions and words.

There is actually a constitutional prohibition against double jeopardy, but in the name of the War On Drugs it is not honored much anymore.

My guess is that he had enough of the federal government when he got out of the Marines. Who would want to work in that cesspool? There are a few good guys, but they are vastly outnumbered by Israel First clowns.

All he is doing now is going to school and teaches swimming. Dan Crenshaw has a similar military background and will likely be moved up to land commissioner when Dawn Buckingham goes to senate or governor.
