Dems don't have to protect dreamers, it isn't their responsibility to work a deal to protect these kids. No way Trump would ever let them go back because of the outcry... Why would DEMS allow the President and Republicans to use it as a negotiation ploy. Dumb by Dems... Let Trump carry that torch, he created it...
They'll get minor concessions that dems can stomach. Repairing fences already on the border....**** like that
LOL!!! Trump has the Dems just where he wants them. Tax reform, the wall........................or DACA go buh bye. Everyone's (both sides) panties are in a wad about Trump. Actually it is a brilliant move.
If you say so. The problem you are ignoring is the Republicans are not united on tax reform. There are as many competing republican ideas on tax reform as there were on health care. Why? Because this is an issue republicans invest a lot of think tank resources on so they have a lot of options to choose from, some that are non-starters for other republicans married to their own think tank strategy. Furthermore, the democrats don't have a problem with tax reform, they have a problem with Trump trying to fleece the white collar workers of America by raising their taxes to give generous cuts to the wealthy. And they can still influence that in the senate so they haven't really lost anythig there. They will let the republicans argue about tax reform for a couple months, the House will vote on a draconian solution, the senate will try and tame it, and the dems will amend and filibuster or do whatever they can to keep the backwards part of it from ever leaving the senate. So it's an uphill slog on tax reform. The wall is a non starter from the cost. The house claiming they have already paid for it flies in the face of what house fiscal hawks are saying. So there isn't enough detail there to push that through either. Trump's move on DACA is actually stupid. He could, as the president, undo Obama's executive orders backing DACA on his own. He doesn't need Congress to do anything. By basically saying he's going to give Congress six months to fix it, he's basically flinching up front. What he should have done is do away with DACA, deport the dreamers, and then say if the dems want a new DACA deal, then they need to work on these other issues. But he didn't. Why? Because deporting people who committed no crime is political suicide. So the only way your assessment of the situation is correct is if you are a Trump supporter since you guys don't live in reality, which is awesome and when I need a break from reality I would love to come join you!
Obummer himself said DACA was essentially unconstitutional. Trump was right to send it to congress. If congress continues it's MO, You know' being useless, Trump has already said he'd revisit the issue.
DACA expires in six months. It's a carrot, or an anvil. I'll let you figure out which one it is. I say it's the latter. The onus is on Congress. Trump has washed his hand of it and thrown the ball into the Congressional court. Why would Trump want to own political suicide? I'm afraid I'm not the one who is delusional here.
Funny watching all you Trumpsters rant that "Democrats are dumb" when they got what they wanted and McConnell and Ryan and the Freedom Caucuss are the ones standing in the corner!
Isn't it weird that Dems can't stomach enforcing immigration law and protecting our country from foreign Invaders?
Rather see them both standing on a street corner pan-handling, than in DC pandering. Trumps going to drain the swamp, and Pelosi & Schumer are useful idiots. There's a "hot mic" video of Schumer / Pelosi ... Schumer is as giddy as a schoolgirl saying "He likes us!" referring to president Trump ...
If Dems begin to perceive that Trump stands to make significant political gains by working with them on DACA, they'll scuttle the negotiations and sacrifice the dreamers. We've got Libs / Progs who were screaming racism, supremacist, and nazi, over Trump handing DACA to congress, howling about how unfair it is to his supporters to negotiate DACA. Bi-polar liberal circus.
They've been known to eat their own before. (Ask Lil Debbie Wasserman-Schulz) They'll just justify it as "well, they weren't really Americans anyway".
