    Florida First Flip-flopper flip-flops.

A scant few days after saying that the Russian war on and in Ukraine was a "territorial dispute", DeSantis completely changes his tune, calling his MAGA rival's buddy Putin a war criminal.

Wow. This is not goign tot go over well the the seemingly pro-Putin MAGA folks. A war criminal is a hell of a long way his previous assessment. Also kind of makes em think DeSantis will say anything to appeal to folks.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is walking back his characterization of Russia’s war in Ukraine as a “territorial dispute,” following criticism from a number of fellow Republicans who expressed concern about the potential 2024 presidential candidate’s dismissive description of the conflict.

In excerpts of an interview with Piers Morgan set to air Thursday on Fox Nation, DeSantis said his earlier comments referenced ongoing fighting in the eastern Donbas region, as well as Russia’s 2014 seizure of Crimea. Ukraine’s borders are internationally recognized, including by the United Nations.

“What I’m referring to is where the fighting is going on now, which is that eastern border region Donbas, and then Crimea, and you have a situation where Russia has had that. I don’t think legitimately, but they had,” DeSantis said, according to excerpts. “There’s a lot of ethnic Russians there. So, that’s some difficult fighting, and that’s what I was referring to, and so it wasn’t that I thought Russia had a right to that, and so if I should have made that more clear, I could have done it.”

Oh wow . He says he was referring to Donbas? That’s pretty hard to believe.

It is a territorial dispute. One in which the US sides with Ukraine on, but it's clearly a territorial dispute, and in fact was initiated with the so-called 'breakaway' regions. Frankly, I don't see why Ukraine is interested in reincorporating pro-Russian parts of the State. It's not like the US civil war with the confederates, the 'breakaway' regions aren't going to become pro-Kiev even if taken back by the Ukrainian military.

The same is true with Crimea. I really do think that Ukraine sooner or later is going to have to come to grips with the reality that a settlement means allowing those Pro-russian enclaves to be as Russian as they want. In exchange for security assurances and demilitarization of the Crimea for example.

Since when is clarification the same as walking back?

Indeed, completely opposite terms. Walking something back means trying to reverse your position. Clarification means doubling down on it using more words.

    English. Tough isn’t it?

Asked by The Atlantic about DeSantis’ initial comments, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suggested that failure to act on Russia’s aggression in his country could ultimately draw the U.S. into a conflict if incursions are also made into NATO member countries.

“When they will occupy NATO countries, and also be on the borders of Poland and maybe fight with Poland, the question is: Will you send all your soldiers with weapons, all your pilots, all your ships? Will you send tanks and armored vehicles with your young people? Will you do it?” Zelenskyy said. “Because if you will not do it, you will have no NATO.”

The audacity of this guy to make this statement. Its 'factual' though, so long as NATO exists America will never have true peace. Article 5 is a powderkeg that can go off at any moment, against US interests.

That's VERY close to a meaningless Trump ramble... I thought he was going to be the MAGA changeup pitch (I.E. Intelligible)??

He said it’s not a territorial dispute? Where did he do that?

    Your argument is a strawman.

you said he said the opposite. The opposite of “it’s a territorial dispute” is either “it’s not a territorial dispute” or another sequence of words which means the same thing.

Asking you to tell me where he is effectively saying it isn’t a territory dispute is no strawman. It’s simple logic based on an understanding of the English language. You know, where opposite means opposite. Not whatever you feel like it means

Nobody is pro-Putin the war criminal. Nor are Trump, DeSantis, or their potential voters you term MAGA, so let's get that out of the way right away.
As for the rest of your post. DeSantis clarified his comments. That's not a flip-flop.

The Left defended Putin for years, until Obama told them not to. I guess the 80s didn't call and want it's foreign policy back, after all .

By that logic, Cuba should invade south Florida because of its Cuban majority and Mexico should invade the whole US southwest since it was part of their country and there is still a significant Mexican population there.
Desantis is going to flame out because he’s such an obvious pandering hypocrite. If the repubs don’t neuter trump and let him end up with the nomination, they will regret it, and relying on a fool like desantis to do their dirty work for them is a fatal mistake.
They all say they loathe trump, but they’re sleepwalking into the same disaster as before.

You can't deny the history of your party. You all would still be defending Putin, but you still think he got the Bad Orange Man elected. You don't hate him for what he's doing in Ukraine. You hate him because of the Bad Orange Man.

You want to blame someone, blame Obama. He's the one that did exactly nothing when Putin invaded Crimea.
