As a populist with no firm stance, he looks at polls and supports or opposed whatever happens to be popular.

So, or opposed the aid to Ukraine, and he loyalists cheered him, and now he is saying the opposite and the supporters are left looking like fools.. There is a good chance he'll flip-flop again when next polls come out.

No principles whatsoever. Instead his views are blown around like leaf in the wind.

That’s such a huge “correction” that it makes him look either stupid or a cowardly panderer. He’s so terrified of losing maga that he can’t see he’s losing the rest of voters with his stunts and rhetoric.

To be fair to the new R Party, The Party of Trump, most in the middle aren't paying attention right now or at least that's the "hope". Traditionally, the Rs run far right to get the nomination and are then expected to gallop to the middle (the left as well). The problem DeSanctimonious has, it that he has to go sooooooo faaarrrrr right, he doesn't have time to get back to the middle or gets lost on the way.
Two Boots Ronnie has a problem, the elephant in the room and in his lane is feeding "retribution" to the extreme right:).

Putin was a war criminal when he invaded Crimea. Your worshipfulness Obama refused to say he was.

No one's defending Putin, people are just valuing America over the so-called 'international community or the so-called 'rules based order'. On the other hand, the hotter the Ukrainian/Russian war gets, the more at risk we are. We're actually fortunate that it's become a stalemate, and in lieu of a treaty between the two, a stalemate is the 'ideal' outcome.

No American should want to be involved in the war, and Article 5 is a massive risk to the United States. The fact that Article 5=US, shows the weakness of the European alliance. Their dependence on America for European security should make them sick. And as for us, we should aim for a bipolar world that also understands Western interests. Reciprocity, not dumping all or most of the responsibility on us.

Still, in a field of braying repubs competing for the job, trump will get enough votes to secure the nomination unless a very large majority of repubs refuse to vote for him and choose among the other candidates instead.

I can’t believe that anyone thinks that another dose of that seriously malignant narcissist will be good for our country or the world. Just allowing him to run is a betrayal of our civic duty.

The first time this accusation came out was during the Syrian chemical crisis, which wasn't all that different from the situation in Ukraine. Americans didn't want to be involved in Syria, Obama was unusually hawkish and said hawk policies led to further undermining confidence in his government. The vast majority of Americans aren't as tied to the international 'rules-based order' and even less are gung-ho to go to war for it.

Of course, we have a very recent and bloody history of setbacks(Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, etc.) where it's just not worth it. It might be worth it to the Pentagon, but the citizen and the pentagon has and probably has always had a different cost calculus. For many Americans, their foreign policy would be more akin to: Keep the trade routes open, and keep us outside of disputes.

NATO has failed America since we stepped down from its leadership and handed it over to European countries, and instead of being a deterrent, it is a 'thorn' in the side of the Kremlin that keeps tensions high. And I don't mind if that's the case, as long as we're not involved.

My message to Europe is very simple: If you want a conflict, the US needs to decouple from the alliance. If you want to actually stabilize peace in Europe, the US can be a mediator. But 'who we are' learned the wrong lessons from WW2. They thought 'OMG, this works, we should do it in the future' and so, we've done it to the present day.

It's time to change course on US Foreign Policy.

DeSantis (and his Voters) need to get used to more of those sort of things coming his way...
Wait until after he officially announces, and the Pro-Trump Meme Makers really start targeting him...
In General, as far as DeSantis 2024:
I feel he could be a formidable candidate the Fall (especially, if Biden (as expected) runs for Re-Election)...
He could play the "Generational" card (in a way that a 78-Year-Old Trump couldn't)...
I just don't see how DeSantis can walk the tightrope of attacking Trump (in the scorched-earth way that will be necessary to win the Nomnation) without alienating Trump's Voters for the Gen. Election...

I really don't get why people get so upset when a politician walks something back. Adjusting outlook to better represent your constituents isn't a flaw. Not sure if I'd even call this walking back.

Trump would never say such a thing. He is pathologically hateful, and he would be jealous of anyone having a nice day.
